Eljay swallowed dryly while he realised that he had no task description and could not help but wonder if it was a mistake or if he was really intended to stay home. Defend the territory, yes, but the youths were pretty much all going too and he could not help but feel a coward for staying here. "What..." he started, and realised it was a dumb, unnecessary question, but now that he had spoken he could feel eyes on him and he had to continue. Looking at the Heda he asked, "What do I do? I... Stay home and defend the territory..?" Ears pricked forward and back awkwardly. "Isn't it... Shouldn't I help fight too?" He knew he was no fighter but he also knew that mommy and daddy would be there. He wanted nothing more in the world than to impress his parents. Eljay looked at the Heda imploringly, though he wasn't too sure if he wanted her to ask him to come, or tell him it was okay to stay.

Having been so new to the pack, Seri was in a state of confusion for most of the heda's talk. The peices came together closer to the end, but she knew that there was still alot that she was missing. There was a war going on and one of the Drageda members had either been taken or killed it seemed. There would be a battle and they would team up with the Redhawk Caldera to eliminate Blackfeather Woods.

Even though Seri didn't know the curcumstances she stood with her pack, in theory. If they were doing this it was for good reason she thought. Looking around at all when came together to hear this announcement Seri could see that this day would be an important one in the packs history. She servayed everyone, trying to see their responces and listen to whatever they had to say. Wanting to remember it for later.

She hoped that those that left would return safely. After all it was quite a few member of the pack not just one or two. And the heda was going. If it came down to it, her lose would hit the pack hard. But Seri remained optemistic, maybe not that they would win, not knowing the enemy, but in the idea that they would return safely.

She ought to feel angry. Yes, that was it, the thing that was missing, the anger that the rest of the pack surely felt. Wildfire had been taken, been hurt, by another pack, and she ought to hate them all for it. She supposed on some level he did, but the anger was outweighed by an emotion akin to dread. Drageda would - had - raised an army, and now they marched on Blackfeather. She knew the nature of her pack, knew it's strength, for she had been born in it, lived in it. But true and total war she had not expected, not the anger and the hate and Blackfeather.

She was silent as Heda announced the fighting party, gaze shifting briefly to Blixen as her name was called. She would go; and once again Dalia felt as if she were wrong, delayed. Her cousin would go to fight, feel the fury of war and fight well, while she stayed at home, unable to even grasp the magnitude of war. She blinked, turning away to set her gaze onto her father, trying for a smile of encouragement that ended up looking a little more like a grimace.

Eljay is the only one that really speaks up. The weight of war wars on the faces of everyone else, too. She appreciates the ambition for the caretaker but she shakes her head. She doesn’t know much about his skills, unlike the other wolves coming along but a warrior has been seen out of the greyscale male. “I need you guys to stay and defend our claim. I don’t know exactly how long we will be gone but I need to know this place is in good hands,” she tells them. Blixen isn’t staying behind, or Furi, and be default, Artaax, but those left she needs to put her trust in and she hopes it’s enough to satisfy those that may want to object.

Bobby looked troubled, Artaax noted as he tried silently to get his attention. It caused him to pause, wondering for the briefest of seconds if he was being overly confident in this endeavor. But a moment later, Bobby looked up and saw him watching, and his typical grin spread across his muzzle. Artaax relaxed. He fancied himself to be the more talented leader of the pair, but he fell victim to his brother's lead far too easily to be the one truly in charge. Seeing as he did not possess the level of self-awareness necessary to be cogniscent of that fact, he remained contentedly delusional regarding his rank in the dynamics of their relationship.

Their wordless communication complete, Artaax glanced round the group to see if a dismissal was imminent. His gaze landed on Eljay, who took that moment to speak up about his role in the events to come. The hompleia frowned incredulously at the man child. Help them fight? Was he for real? He looked at Thur as she instructed the Blackthorn to stay behind to defend the territory - something he felt Eljay was equally useless at, but it was far safer for him to be useless doing this than be useless at Blackfeather. He silently agreed with the heda's decision in leaving him behind. There were enough other packmates with actual defensive skills remaining behind that would be able to protect Eljay without him getting himself in any danger.

Eljay nodded mutedly at the Heda's command to stay behind, though he still felt a knot in his stomach. He didn't want to be useless and sit here and do nothing — he wanted to protect everyone and prove to the Heda and to mommy and daddy that he could be strong and brave. Eljay silently waited for the meeting to be over, though felt panic rise in his throat at the thought of not being there and once more having to sit back and prove he was a loser.

Eljay doesn’t have anything else to offer, accepting the duty. War is far from glamorous, nor something to aspire, but they need to be ready. She does not know him as a warrior, as she may the others, and what skills he does have will benefit the whole of Drageda at home.

”We leave in the morning,” she tells them, giving them a final chance to tie up loose ends and say their goodbyes. Hoping this will find closure soon, she dismisses then, lingering back for any remaining conversation.
