Lion Head Mesa blood & bone

midday in the palace was sweltering. outside crept with wavering lines of Ra's impenetrable mercy.

khusobek kept his patrols just outside the walls where the towering head of the mesa offered some minute shade. it took him near an hour to walk the grounds entire; he had placed a waterskin midway, to replenish him as he passed.

the burning of his paws as the sun crept to take away even that small shadow signalled to the man that he must return to the underground palace, and khusobek trudged to pick up his depleted carrying pelt.
