No, not that he was going on adventures, while she was stuck at home. Rather that reality had not dimmed that inner light of his. She assumed that he must not have been out on his own for too long - because by the end of her third month she had been hungry, cold and lonely and no longer firmly believed that all the great things were waiting ahead of her.
