Nova Peak breadfruit

Didn’t Riley feel like the worlds biggest heel when he saw the stranger’s eyes mist over. He steeled himself with the cold reminder that his everything lived in this mountain behind him; this man could be evil, or he could be nice - but Riley couldn’t afford chances.

He was relieved when the man turned without argument. He stood still for a few minutes, listening to the man as he receded. He even made a half-hearted attempt to follow him for a few minutes at distance — but it was clear that the stranger with the eerie eyes was quitting this place for good.

Riley turned back towards the dugout, ignoring the soreness in his hip as he sped for home.
