Her husband had put up a fair fight- if she'd been watching, she might have declared him the winner, for keeping the high ground for the majority of the brawl. She speculated privately that if Ancelin had not had as much affection for her, he might have pushed her to prove her point- and that she likely would have lost the spar after one more round. 

She rose and made a low gurgling sound as she shook snow, twigs and bits of cold earth from her fur. His suggestion prompted a loud licking of her lips; the warmth of her gaze and the coy pull of her smile decreed that she thought Ancelin himself was a snack- but the gurgle of hunger from her stomach insisted that there were only certain appetites that he could fill.
