All Welcome
The moon child found that she enjoyed the unfamiliarity of the glacier and its people. It was full of scents she had never smelled before, sounds that had never been heard on the rocky terrain of the spine, and wolves who knew nothing of her or her family. All of them had been kindly. As the child ventured into the glacier territory, she did not fear the idea that she was not of the glacier. They were guests, after all, and she was a moon child.

Samani searched the edge of the territory with a curious glint in her eyes. The fragrance of an unfamiliar man was there – perhaps the man who had been gone when they had arrived – and she found it curious. The girl moved along the edge of their claim with soft steps. She thought of Veteran and of Kigipigak, wondering if she would see one of them out there. As she walked, she kept her eyes up and searching.

He tried to focus his swirling emotions elsewhere. They were hard to ignore, but even at his young age, Ensio knew that it would do him no good to let them eat him up. Grieving took time, and everyone had their own way of working through it. What made it difficult for the young Duskfire was the timing and the circumstances of it all.

But there was a silver lining. Their guests. The allies of Moonglow, settled close by. He frequented their scents often, or found a stray clump of tell tale fur here and there. He had even engaged with some of their youth, his own age. Distraction, Ensio found, was helpful. Any sort of outlet for his emotions, or to take his mind off them. The children of the Moon pack especially got his interest bubbling. Pulled him in, teasing his desire to socialize.

Clutched in his jaws was an object from his very early childhood. A fist sized, flat rock. The surface was smooth; almost glossy. But that wasn't what he thought was special about it. It was the color. A swirling of blue-ish black and storm gray. So very much like his father. The man he would never truly know.

Ahead he spotted the figure of one of Moonglow's children. She was a blast of warm color against the monotones of the Glacier's land. This one, he didn't believe he had met before. Picking up the pace, but not closing in too fast too soon, he chuffed out a greeting.

A young man’s voice pulled her ears back. The moon child turned her head curiously until her gaze rested on a boy with a dark face and striking silver eyes. She had not seen him before, but he did not seem much older than Veteran had been. This was enough to ease the young girl. Her tail swayed gently from side to side as she searched his figure curiously. The darkness that washed his face painted his paws and dappled portions of his back. He looked as though he had been sprinkled with night.

Hello, glacier boy, Samani greeted him softly.

The girl knew that he belonged to the glacier from the thickness of his pelt and the scent that he carried upon his athletic figure. It was the same as the other wolves of Duskfire. Samani wondered if this stranger was a brother to Veteran, or if he was simply another boy who belonged to the frosty village.

I am Samani of Moonglow, the girl offered, dipping her snout politely toward him. What are you called?
