She wasn’t joking when she’d said that she was tired, though she definitely meant it in more way that one. Though her body was tired from a long patrol, her mind took several minutes to shut off before she would be allowed to slip into slumber and naturally, her mind worked feverishly, conjuring up all sorts of thoughts she wished she’d never had. It took her some time to fall asleep, but falling asleep came much easier to her with Colt beside her than it ever would have if she’d been on her own.
