Lane felt a little guilty that it had taken her so long to make it back to the Blackfeather Woods, especially after she had promised Zephyr a return visit to meet up with Ivory Rose's medic. She did have a good excuse though, on account of the blizzard that had raged across the Teekons for what felt like an entire moon. There was that, and the bear attacks that had taken place in Glen-- all that had been enough to keep the medic busy for the whole winter so far.
Just as Lane was rounding the southern end of the lake, Zephyr's countenance came into view. Or, at least Lane thought it was him from a distance. The wolf had the right size and coloring. She opened her mouth to call out, and the rootball she had been carrying tumbled softly into the snow.
"Zephyr! Hey! Over here!" she called to the other wolf. She halted, taking the opportunity to rest her recently-infected paw. It had really been lucky that she had found Zephyr here at the lake, and she hadn't had to trek all the way to the Woods. Her paw was throbbing angrily from the ground she had covered already.
As she waited for Zephyr to reach her, Lane chewed idly on the edge of her ball of comfrey roots. Ivory Rose wouldn't miss just a little, she reasoned, and she could use a little bit to soothe the wound on her paw pad.
