There were a few cases where Mal didn't frankly care if something was "reasonable" -- if it wasn't fair, then it shouldn't be reasonable. He'd had enough dumb stuff happen to him that he was done eating bad luck just because that was the way things happened to be. Other people got better luck so he should too.

But he wasn't feeling too chatty any more. He did look back to Simmik and gave her kind of a nod. He appreciated her perspective, but yeah... Not the best conversation from his side of things. But he'd give stuff thought. As it were, he was ok with the patrol continuing in basically silence for the while longer they were going to do so. Someone would probably find it too awkward and walk off at some point.
