Khaba was no longer mazoi. Now, he had been titled as jodai And as such, more duties now fell in his care.

Alongside himself, there was another who had stood guard of Akashingo. But, she too had stepped into a new rank; the rank of yaret

Oddly enough, the two had never met. But he was intent upon changing that.

@Jakoul, is it? He pondered aloud, having stumbled upon the woman in the halls. The name had been heard a few times, but he wanted to be sure he was not mistaking the description he'd been given.

She was prepared to head out into the winter world as pharaoh had instructed.

Yet first she had wished to see the place of Maegi once more. So she went near sunset, prepared to spend a few hours in solitude at the stones then depart out into the snow. Perhaps over the mountain, perhaps to the coast. She had not decided yet.

Only a voice spoke her name, one she did not know.

In her serpentine ways, she arched her body to look over her shoulder at the hulking beast. Uncertain what he wished of her. She blinked pale eyes owlishly at him but remained silent, respectful, awaiting.

The silent woman turned to him, blinking in question.

Khaba assumed that he had been correct, given her quick response.

We have not met. I am Khaba, jodai. Stern and impassive. The usual.

It felt odd to admit such a title. He had been mazoi not too long ago. And yet, here he stood, a captain of the mesa.

She had expected and order of some set before her departure.

Had she been summoned only for pleasantries? It perplexed her deeply when there was so much work that could be done instead.

Yet it was not her who held Jodai. It was the man before her.

She offered a low crooning sound, curious and hesitant in sound.

She would not speak, but only offered a low sound in acknowledgement.

It reminded him of his days in silence. But they were no more.

The pharaoh has ordered you a task, has he not? From what the jodai knew, she was meant to part with the mesa for a time.

While you are away, be mindful to map the distances of every pack and those forming. If anyone is to find themselves nearby, I want to be aware of to which direction we must keep the closest watch.

Another task from the jodai himself, but not one too difficult. Surely the yaret could manage this with ease.

It was not an unreasonable request and she nodded softly, an understanding shine in her gaze.

Watch. See. Tell. She assured him through a croaky scratched voice, that his task would be done with pharaoh's. A soft sniffing in his direction.

Curious, patient.

She wondered if he had more for her.

Last from me!

She understood his words.

There was nothing more to tell.

With a light gesture, he would leave her be. On your way, then.

And the same would be done with him. As soon as she was gone from view, he would turn back unto the fold of the mesa.
