Ephraim was following along Drageda's fragrant borders under a smoky afternoon sun when he just... left it. It took a lot of working up his own nerve for him to set his paws outside the pack's claim. He still remembered the raging storm that sent him fleeing from his family, and he remembered the way the wolves from Easthollow looked at them. A part of him feared that leaving the territory even for an hour or two would result in one of those things happening again, only this time it would be his pack's disapproval instead of strangers. But he went anyway, after several days of mustering his courage, because the coyote blood in his veins wanted only to wander and find new haunts.
The terrain outside Drageda's territory proved challenging, but Ephraim rose to it admirably. As he grew, he found new grace and strength in his legs and his feet, lending him the stability he never had as a bumbling pup. He sprang from rock to rock, skipped over troubling holes in the ground, and skirted around thorny shrubs with a vagabond's easy gait. That wasn't to say he was the epitome of grace. He had a long way to go, as evidenced by the spectacular face-plant he did after getting a little too cocky about hopping over a rabbit warren.

Every so often, Maia liked to go on wanders. Usually not too far because, much as she didn't like to admit it, she sometimes got pretty well turned around. Sticking around the mountain got kinda boring now and then, though, and with the recent prey shortage, she'd needed to leave to hunt at times anyway.
She came east because she'd met someone last time she came this way and totally wouldn't mind running into him again. She wasn't looking for him, of course. It wasn't like she liked him. But he'd been pretty cute, and seemed nice, and... just... yeah. She didn't care, but the inevitability of going home without running into @Artaax would leave her pretty disappointed despite her 'not caring'.
She'd gone more north than she intended, and the afternoon was gettin late. Uh oh. Well, the sun was there when she started, so to get back... it needed to be there? She spun, biting her lower lip gently as she thought and chewing. Ummm.
"HEY!" Luckily she spotted someone headed somewhere, but she called out just in time to see him faceplant. Ouch. She winced sympathetically, but had that uncomfortable moment where she didn't know if she should laugh or go check. Probably go check? "Uhhh, you ok?" She jogged over, putting her original question of 'where the heck are we?' on the backburner.
