a flare of shock welled in ibis’ gaze — followed by tender notes of pain. astara tittered to herself as she sauntered off, the vole held like a prize in her jaws.  

a constellation of emotions she had seen in ibis’ softly liquid eyes — remote, fleeting. 

she wished to see them stir again.

rounding the pained form of the little dove, astara thrust her jaws towards ibis once more — the vole dancing obscenely from her teeth, just as malice danced within her indigo gaze. come play her gestures invited, as meanwhile she skulked about her quarry with toying amusement.
