Looking for one of the Rosings wolves, @Harrison @Grayson @Addison @Emerson @Iliksis or any others :)

--------------------------------------------------
Finally, it seemed like the weather had become a bit more kind to them, and had smiled upon the wolves with a few days of warmth that was more Fall-like than the temperature that would be associated with winter. The bit of snow that had fallen had melted considerably, and she enjoyed the sunshine that had brightened up the past few days, lifting her spirits slightly. Maybe the winter wouldn’t be as harsh as she had expected it to be- there was really no way to tell just yet, but she’d wished that the Fall had gone on longer, rather than relinquishing its hold to the Winter that had drawn up and established itself far too early. She hated Winter, even though she’d only lived through one. She’d spent the past winter travelling- at least, through half of it- and it had not treated her or her brother well at all. They’d survived together, and this winter she was plenty glad that she had an entire pack to live and hunt with- but it didn’t mean that she thought nothing of it. Winters could kill- she’d seen it before, in the half-frozen carcasses that hadn’t had any trace of claw nor tooth upon them. She’d be damned if she’d let that happen to her.

Before winter approached, though, she needed to know the intentions of the packs which had begun to settle in her Hinterlands...Even though she had no reason to feel entitled. But the Redhawks had been established in the area longer than both of the fledgeling packs combined, and she felt that they should therefore have the first choice over hunting grounds for the Winter. She would not take kindly to any strangers she found on Two Rivers Isle or in the Grouse Thicket...And for the wolves who were settling in the Shadewood, that was not good news. They were far too close to the plateau for Niamh’s comfort, and they had begun to explore the Isle which meant that they would hunt the deer and elk that lived there in the winter- possibly forcing them to leave that area, or knocking down their numbers to the point where both packs could not live off them any longer. In her opinion, the Shadewood wolves could have the coastline and the Moors- but the Isle, Floodplains and Thicket were theirs.

She knew more about those wolves than the ones who had begun settling down further south, and more to the East of the Shadewood at a more respectable distance near Silver Creek. She felt more intimidated by the Shadewood wolves, so she relied on the information she could glean from her scouts who were trained to handle those sorts of situations and prepared to have the leaders of the Shadewood clans come to meet her or Quixote at some point to talk politics. But the wolves of Silver Creek were more of an unknown to her, though as far as she knew, there weren’t many of them and they were far newer. Naturally, she wanted to establish the fact that the lands shared between them- mainly just the Mount Everfall (where few Redhawks wanted to tread anyway, given the fact that that was where Orca had died) and the Verdant Basin were to be respected as yet again, they were lands that the Redhawks used for hunting. She thought to suggest that they go further East as they hunted, through the King Elk Forest, or Hideaway Strath, both of which were full of deer and elk. She almost hated surrendering King Elk Forest, but she knew it was far too close to Silver Creek for her to have any real claim over it.

So with all that in mind, she made her way down the Southern slope of the Plateau- picking her way carefully, lest she take a tumble again and sprain her ankle as she had the last time she’d gone the same route- and through the Floodplains toward the Creek. She’d left early in the morning the day previous, and had let Colt know where she was going, so he wouldn’t worry, though she didn’t pass the idea by Quixote. This, she thought, wasn’t the sort of thing she’d need to ask him about. Any of their other packmates could have gone already, without seeking permission, so why would she need to? Perhaps she was still too wound up about everything involving her alpha, and tried to put it off her mind. This was simply a peaceful trip she was taking to meet and greet the wolves who seemed to be settling near the Creek, who had wisely chosen to stay roughly 50 kilometers away from the Plateau, unlike the Shadewood wolves who were less than 20 kilometers away. It still wasn’t far enough- Niamh liked to have other packs at least 3 days travel away, but she would accept the fact that it took about a day and a half for her to travel to Silver Creek, and that was, at least, relatively fair.

It was afternoon by the time she reached the edge of the Creek, though she dared not cross it. She could smell the tracks of wolves along her side of the Creek, though the majority of them crossed over into the corner of the wilderness which was inevitably being claimed. Respectfully, she would not cross, though she did call out, seeking the attention of one of the wolves who had chosen to settle there. Her voice was calm and level, as she wanted to keep things civil and merely satiate her curiosity about the group of wolves here. Oddly enough, she recognized a scent that was prevalent in the area, and remembered the short encounter she’d had with Iliksis some months ago. Had he joined them? Or was he their leader? It was hard to tell...But from what she could discern, the scents closest to the borders were mostly male, as though the role of guardian was mostly left to the men. She waited patiently, but wouldn’t necessarily have all day; she’d need to make the trip back as well, which would take her late into the next night if she had to wait most of the afternoon.

Care for an interaction with a gentle girl, we can have them call one of the men later. Lol. Also pardon the crappy phone post!

The weather had been kind, well, it had been nicer these last few days compared to how it had been when they arrived. The smallest Odolf had taken advantage of such things. The warmer rays of the sun had thawed the earth, just enough, that she could access the herbal roots that nestled within. It had made the icy snow melt from the beautiful forest and allowed the harvest of the soft moss without it being frozen or too soggy. It had allowed her to gaze at the floor of the timber cluster, changing it from the colorless white to a flurry of hues from the leaves that the trees had shed.

Just as she had been cleaning her paws and nose in the stream did the call arise. At first she had ignored it, tidying her appearance as a lady should but when not a soul had raised their voice to claim the encounter she shook out her now clean fur and started towards the border. Her voice ran out as she signalled for her brothers or even another male to accompany her to greet this stranger bit no one returned her call.

A huff escaped her lips as her tail waved proudly as if to say she was of high ranking, which was neither true nor false but the Odolf blood was regarded higher than the other women. She have another call, hoping someone would hear her, letting the stranger know she was coming. It was rude to leave someone waiting at the border when they respected their boundaries and simply asked for an audience. Her usual smile came as the blonde form came into view, what a pretty color, this smile was filled with friendliness and elegance. Just did her walk show pride and femininity.  Once she closed the distance she looked up at the larger girl, sometimes she hated being this small.

"Greetings, pretty miss." She greeted with a very soft and feminine voice, now was for the speech she had rehearsed on the way over here. She was not use to doing this sort of thing. "I hope your journey here was not far and bid you well, how might I help you?" her word came formal as she simple smiled at the girl, her tail waving behind her showing that she was not threatening but here to greet her.

As she was on a business trip, she appreciated that she got a return howl, letting her know that someone was on their way- a female, no less, despite the fact that she smelled mostly males in the area. She was pleased that they’d extended that sort of a gesture to her, to let her know that she wouldn’t have to wait too long without knowing whether anyone was coming or not...It was a habit that Niamh herself made an effort to do, whenever someone came to her borders, so she assumed that whoever it was that had answered her call, they must have had some link to the leadership. Otherwise, they might have called out for someone else to go and greet her. As it was, she was satisfied to wait, now that she knew she’d been heard, and had been politely informed that she would be tended to.

The female that approached her was smaller, but looked a fair bit like Niamh if she’d simply been shrunk. Proportinate to her body her legs were long and limber, the same way Niamh herself was all legs. She was smaller and likely weight a fair amount less, though, and would have stood quite a bit shorter than Niamh had she been standing. But there was a proud air to the way she carried herself, though it didn’t force Niamh to bow or reveal that she herself was anything less than a leader. While she was a visitor to their borders, she did bow her head respectfully to the petite lady whose smile was welcoming and warm. She was surprised, but pleasantly so- perhaps this pack would become a firm ally, if they were all this friendly...Or, of course, the Redhawks could force them out, if they were weak. She had yet to make her decisions.

Still, she was greeted with nothing less but neighbourly care and friendliness, which she would return, at the moment. She felt strange, being addressed in such a way, and wasn’t sure exactly if she was meant to reply with the same sort of flattery. The female before her, after all, could have been her twin hd she only been larger in all dimensions, and had her pale fur adopted a golden hue rather than one of pale cream. She bore the same dark markings along her withers and shoulders that Niamh did, and her eyes were simply a slightly darker shade than hers, but still bore the same sparkle. She could have been a younger sister, easily...But any younger siblings of Niamh’s would have been too young to be out on their own, and this pretty thing looked to be about her age, or somewhere around there.

”Uh, thanks, miss,” She returned, somewhat awkwardly, but not without warmth. Just because she wasn’t sure how to greet someone who spoke like this didn’t mean she wouldn’t try to return the kindness. ”I come as a representative of the Redhawks; we are a pack native to a plateau a day and a half’s journey from here...My packmates had noticed activity here around the Creek, so I came to see it for myself. I am the pack’s Beta, and am interested in learning a bit more about your gathering of wolves, here,” She said. She couldn’t quite bring herself to describe them as a pack; after all, she couldn’t smell too many wolves in the area, so she figured that they were just beginning to assemble and claim the area for their own. ”My name is Niamh Blackthorn; it’s nice to meet you,” She said. After all, she did want to be friendly, and did want to lay down terms in a peaceful way...And this female seemed kind and welcoming enough, that they could potentially form a decent bond with them, as long as they were respectful of the Plateau’s established hunting grounds.

gonna save this thread if that's okay... @Emerson feel free to pop back in at any time <3

it made sense that, although it was a man's job to tend to the borders, a woman would be the first to approach. after all, while he was busy working hard and providing for the pack... she had little to do except maybe collect a few herbs and gossip with her friends. scoff. of course he approached second.

emerson stepped back for him as he stepped forwards, and he offered his sister an affectionate nudge to the cheek. she seemed like she'd done well-- and grayson had caught the end of this niamh's speech. pretty little thing. "niamh blackthorn, of the redhawks," he purled with a heavy dip of his head. sure, her rank had no standing here, but he knew it was important elsewhere. he wouldn't step on any toes just for the hell of it. "my name is grayson odolf, alpha of this pack," he began, then paused and gave a roll of his shoulders, "at least, we plan to settle here, we will see if fate has the same plans for us." but it would, grayson was modest only for show.

"we are rosings," he said with a flick of his tail, "what questions do you have of us?"

Niamh's honeyed gaze swept to the man as he approached, with the confident swagger of a king. He greeted Emerson fondly before he regarded her, and Niamh simply gazed back at him. She was outnumbered- but these two didn't seem too violent, or even too defensive. Instead, they seemed to be as curious about the meeting as she was, without chasing her off. That sort of openness rattled Niamh slightly; but then again, she was grateful that she wouldn't have to worry about being attacked on sight simply because she was a stranger at their borders. She didn't necessarily appreciate the elevator eyes that Grayson was giving her, but she'd let it pass. For now.

He stated his name and his intentions, and she tilted her head slightly. He was the alpha, but that didn't mean too much to Niamh, who was both proud and stubbornly attached to the belief that as a visitor, and not a member of his pack, he really had no rank over her. She was respectful enough of their territory- but it wasn't like she was going to treat him any differently than she would have treated Emerson. She nodded in appreciation, and flicked her ears forward, glad that he was going to help her out.

"Not too much in terms of questions. A pack is a pack is a pack," She said, clearly having no idea that Grayson's laws were any different than they would be in her pack. "What concerns me is the proximity to the plateau...You're not too close, which we appreciate. There're a few who've chosen to settle in the Shadewood, Northwest of here; they're too close for comfort." She said. "We do use some of the neutral grounds around our plateau for hunting...And we're interested in keeping those lands for our hunting use...Too many packs hunting the same grounds won't benefit any of us." She said. It was her gentle way of saying that she didn't want the Rosings wolves to start using their hunting grounds, otherwise they might scare the herds away.

unwilling to make enemies so early in the game, grayson thought it best not to challenge this wolf. granted, rosings may not forever honor this request, for grayson was grayson and he would do what he wanted. but for the time being, as women took up majority of their ranks... grayson would not fight this.

"we will stay out of your hair, niamh," he told his in a gruff voice, pale gaze falling across her figure. she was a striking type -- ginger and honey dripping across her back. "and i will keep an eye on the shadewood, thank you for the intel," he added, chin tilting as his gaze settled back upon her -- less wandering now. "if you need any help with them, rosings is here. i extend our warriors to you," he added with a flick of his ear. he and his brothers, and it would seem ilkisis, would be valuable to any pack looking to squash beef. once and for all. he waited for a response.

Niamh was intrigued by Grayson’s politeness and his willingness to mind their hunting grounds. She was relatively appeased and satisfied with that as all their chat and relationship needed to be- but he offered the use of his warriors as well which caused her to raise an eyebrow. They had warriors, then? This was unusual, and a bit unsettling- but perhaps just a means of self defense, saying he had power.

”Well...Let’s hope neither of us falls into a time when warriors are needed...But thank you, Grayson. I’ll be in touch, in the future.” She said. She gave the two oddly polite wolves a nod, and took her information back to her pack.
