All Welcome
Elysium event: On Friday, April 19, to correspond with our April theme of Creation (more details tomorrow!) and the full moon that night, we will be taking gifts to each of the pregnant and/or nursing women within our allies' packs. Please allow @Tzila to post first since they are coming together.

He didn't want to be here. Ephraim had never wanted to be anywhere less in his life. It was the woman traipsing alongside him that kept him on course for the sequoia forest looming on the coastline. If not for Tzila, the slender Eyjolfur would have turned tail long before reaching the pack's borders. No matter who he represented now and no matter how good his new pack's will was, he could think of nothing but gnashing teeth under a sky split with lightning as they padded on toward Rusalka.

Why here? he wondered, pausing to readjust the bundle in his jaws. It was a rabbit pelt looped inexpertly around several large hunks of badger meat and a freshwater fish of some description. It was heavy as it hung from his jaws, but he fought against its weight and bore it well to his family's pack's borders. If he had to be here, where devils masqueraded as wolves, he would do what he could to hide any weakness. Partly because of Tzila, but mostly because he hoped this would somehow end his torment.

Setting the bundle down where the briny air met the colossal trees just outside Rusalka's claim, Ephraim shot his companion a sideways look, willed his knees to stop their trembling, and howled a quavering tune.

Ephraim, the packmate she knew next to nothing about, was not alone in the way he felt. Tzila had begrudgingly volunteered for this event, but only because she felt that she was in debt to Olive and Elysium. They were assigned as a team, sent to a pack by the name of Rusalka. She had never heard of this group before. But by merely observing the slender male's behavior, she concluded that he very much did.

Days before their journey, she had set about her task of gathering up bits and goodies for the pregnant females and their young. Tzila had never really given much thought to motherhood, but she had enough common sense to know what would make for a fine gift, and what would not. So, in her jaws hung a discarded pair of deer antlers she had found, the sharp points filed down to blunt knobs for safety. Laced within them was a thick lining of moss, some ginger root (cause what kid didn't get an upset tummy?) a nicely skinned fox pelt (fully intact) and a vibrant tigers eye stone that would capture the imagination of any pup. As she and Ephraim arrived just outside the borders of the pack, she set her bundle down and sent him a glance after he called. The look on her face was clear. Questioning...puzzled. Why in the heck are you so nervous? She'd have to watch herself...to tuck away her normally sour attitude so as not to offend the welcoming committee.

the sound of his brother's voice did not inspire familiarity in the ghost's mind. really, most of what remained of ephraim existed in the fleeting images of the sandy boy when he had been only a puppy, and then the far worse memories of seeing him fighting alongside the wolves of the cliff. in all that time, illidan had never truly heard what his own brother had sounded like. if he had, the dark-hooded youth might never have approached the call on their border. unfortunately, he considered it a task that fit his role within the pack. it was all the reason he needed to meet the call.

as the ghostly figure drew closer, he felt his heart begin to thump wildly within his chest. closer still, illidan realized just who had found the edge of their claim. his features fell from a welcoming expression to one of discomfort and disdain. the woman was a stranger to him, and did not deserve any of his wrath. still, he felt as though it was warranted simply for standing beside ephraim.

“what do you want?” his graveled and callous voice asked of them. there was nothing welcoming in his expression or his body language, but he was also not demonstrating aggressive body language. he was the beta there and he rose his head well above their own. though he spoke to the two as a duo, illidan could not seem to pull his hawkish gaze away from the features of his brother. he wanted to feel something for the other boy. he wanted to know that there was a chance that their shared blood would allow for healing. instead, illidan was filled with a sullen apathy. he did not care what happened to ephraim; he only wanted him away from their border.
