All Welcome
life has become ....tedious as of late. for the growing and naturally curious child of mal and miriam; he, steady upon feet and mouth full of newly learned words, is no longer content to spend days cooped up in the birthing den and just outside the mouth of the den where he lingers in the hawksharp, watchful eye of his amma. with the blossoming ability to grasp concepts bigger than himself, he begins to wonder if there are any wolves in the forest besides his twinshine, amma and mal. if there were ...they have not come to visit.

hewwo?! he calls out as he wanders ( once more ) away from the den; driven by false sense of security; lilting childish voice like a small beacon. a lighthouse light struggling to shine thru thick fog that writhes upon the restless sea. hey! he bellows as he continues forth, unsure where his paws take him.

Honestly, with things as weird as they had been lately, Mal wasn't sure what a chunk of the pack was up to. Stuff had been weird, and he'd been wrapped up in most of it. Okay, he knew that they were around, anyone could scent that, so he wasn't amazingly concerned... And with everything with Cupid, he wasn't too keen on people who'd ask too many questions about what was going on... He had feelings and he didn't wanna deal with them, the end.

He figured he'd go check on the caches, see if today was a day he needed to hunt to make sure all his kids were fed or if he could just pluck things from there and give his brain a break. Mal hadn't quite gotten there yet when he heard a familiar little voice calling out. He paused, looking up, trying to pinpoint where it came from. The second call did the job and Mal rerouted to go find out what his son was up to. For his kids, he'd put on a less-grim face, gentle smile as he trotted on over, Hey to you! was his reply before he popped into view. What're you doin' out this far? It wasn't accusatory -- a little playful, curious for sure. Did Miriam know? Was Asmoses' usual shadow far behind him?

it didn't take long for his bellowing to draw the attention of an adult; but it is a familiar face that asmoses is always happy to see. not old enough to understand the ...complicated intricacies and uniqueness of his home life, he recognizes mal as 'father' all the same. noting the gentle smile upon mal's face, and the greeting his father offers him, asmoses lets out a giggle as his tail whips behind him in a rapid wag until his butt is wiggling from the action. hiii uppah! he trills, jumping up in the hopes of licking mal's chin affectionately. though not particularly sure where the term of affection 'uppah' comes from himself, he unknowingly draws it from 'papa' and some form of baby babble he hasn't entirely outgrown yet.

uhmmm, asmoses draws at the question, drawing a paw across the dirt in consideration. ehehehe, he giggles again. moses' 'splorin! he declares in a non-whispering-whisper rather proudly, despite trying to act like it is their little secret. asmoses beams up at mal, knowing full well that he wasn't supposed to venture so far from the den without supervision and that amma might be beside herself with worry when she found him missing.

He nuzzled the boy's face and gave him a couple of licks for good measure. This was the age where he really adored the pups -- just big enough to get into a little bit of trouble, but nothing major yet. It was a nice time -- and fun, since everything out there was still pretty much new to them, and showing them the mysteries of the world was great.

Mal responded in a similar mock-hushed tone, Whatcha finding? He looked around conspiratorially, as if some sort of treasure was hidden nearby. Only thing he knew of was that one cache, but he didn't know if Asmoses was quite old enough to be particularly magnetized to the smells of it yet. There could be something else that had pulled him this way, and Mal wasn't gonna guess.
