All Welcome
with no real destination in mind, bobcat roams.

at first, it is tracking a small deer herd: one buck and two females; both a little rotund with growing young. a sign he is able to recognize easily now.

and then, it was for the simple joy of stretching his legs. of exploring.

it's overcast when he reaches the grove of emerald and firekissed ferns; the fronds tickling against his legs as he paces thru them. on the air is the smell of damp earth: a rainstorm coming, he suspects.

in case it turns into something worse, he heads towards the heart of the grove, seeking a place to hunker down.

The forest knows something she does not.

The woods hush. A flight of warblers abandon their tree. She raises a snout to pull into lungs the strange and heavy air.

A pale shape gusts past her. In the half-moment it takes her eyes to gain focus, she believes this to be the cloud-girl! She hurtles forward excitedly with a lifting prickle of dark pelt.

Bjarna!

thank you for joining! <3

bjarna!

a shape comes hurtling at bobcat, full of jittery excitement that startles him.

bjarna —?

bobcat, accustomed to taking on whatever rank or name ( for they are one in the same to him ) he is heard being addressed as ( though perhaps has not been addressed as any name yet ), thinks it is something she is calling him. a form of greeting, perhaps?

but her excitement is what gives him pause.

he does not think they've ever met before.

a low, bewildered chuff leaves bobcat's lips; golden gaze watching her carefully.

thank YOU!! <3

She bursts through a split of low hanging spruce, stopping herself just short of a pair of eclipsed eyes that fix her with their confusion. Lope axed, she anchors her paws into the earth and yelps in throaty surprise!

No cream folds, no wet snub-nose: an oppressively tall and intimidating figure with searing sun-eyes.

Her pelt barbs instinctively, making broader her stature despite his vast presence. Ears flattening, she tugs her snout up with a distancing grunt.

“Sorry.”

sorry.

she offers after she yelps and applies the breaks.

bobcat is not angry ... only confused; and her apology does little to soothe it, the furrow in his brow deepening at the snub of her muzzle.

a confused noise leaves bobcat, hoping she might give him the answer he seeks: is he meant to be a bjarna?

unfortunately, despite that he understands the spoken word very well, he's never felt the desire to even attempt to utter words. perhaps it might make things easier, but bobcat feels that rebellious want to make his life difficult.

Is this all she’s worth, a croak in return?

She’s affixed with a fluted brow above that scorching stare and wordlessly appraised. She has a mind to bound away, the air is growing strange here and she does not think this snow bear will give chase. But she is fickle and no longer bridled by a lone wolf’s fatigue.

Spurring thoughts give a little annoyed flout of tail. She is a pack wolf now! She is due some respect in the valley!

Hey no worries, I could see you were mistaken.”
“Oh great! Glad there’s no hard feelings.”
None whatsoever!”
“Wonderful! I’ll be on my way then.”

She finishes the little act, shoots him with a smug lift of muzzle, and turns abruptly on her heel to leave.

bobcat's confusion morphs into silently perplexed, brows furrowint even deeper as she puts on a little act; presumably, he believes, how she thinks their interaction should have went.

he blinks slowly, watching as she turns abruptly and makes to leave.

he does not stop her, thinking to himself that she is a strange beast and contemplating still what a bjarna was as he aims to continue on his way.

She parts the hushed wood and like the bear-wolf it holds its tongue for an unnatural chilling silence. Electricity surges the air giving unintended rise to her pelt, and above her the granite sky darkens.

Suddenly there’s a clap overhead and the entire forest is at once illuminated in a terrifying colorless light! A guttural cry rips from her lips and she reels backwards, stumbling first into the stranger before spinning about frantically, desperately seeking somewhere to shelter.
