His eyes were drawn to yet another island as he stood with his toes in the sea. Unfortunately, it too was cut-off by the shore, isolated in the seawater, and he could tell from where he was that it didn't matter. It was scarcely more than a rock, not a tree in sight.
Ferahgo stole down the cliffs once more, intent to go further than he had last time before he doubled back. The clop of stately trees had looked promising, but the trip was a wasted effort, for not far into the tree line lay the marks of another claim. He could be foolhardy, but he was not downright foolish. He retreated away from the border and considered his options.

well, since phas is in blackbeak on another thread... HI
caiaphas laid on her tucked tummy, her hips digging in the sand as she weighed her options. the hare scent she had trailed out of the sound had long since dissipated, and she was too lazy to investigate further for such a small meager reward. she would probably had rested in the cold a moment longer were it not for the long shadow that flitted between two broad boughs. she pricked her long ears as she tried to scry from the brilliant glare of the afternoon sun the nature of the creature who had cast the shadow. deciphering it as decidedly wolf-like, the wretch rose fluidly into a lope to intercept the wolf that she had glimpsed briefly in between the trees.

HI! I was going to hop into that one before Ros did haha.
He could pick his way around, but he was loathe to stray too far from the sea. If he couldn't taste the brine on the breeze he was too far inland for his comfort. Born and raised on the shores, he'd die on them too. So, that meant doubling back, and taking a closer look at what was between here and from where he had come.
But her was interrupted by the a sharp featured coywolf, and he was struck immediately by the thought that she'd make a cute wife for his swabbie. Cute only in the sense that both were lacking in the looks department.
"Ahoy," he said to her. "These be yer gunwales are they?" Borders. He meant borders. He could smell that she matched them, but more curiously he could smell the salt off her. Hmm. Perhaps there was something on the other side of the trees worth his investigation.

lMFAO the idea of 'phas as a wife HELP
the she-wolf slowed to a halt, her yellow gaze studying his muscle-bound physique. his musculature matched those reminiscent of themiscyra - athletic and pelagic in their structure. he too bore proudly the scent of brine on his pelt and she wondered internally how long he had been carving a living along the strand. he didn't look like most lone wolves to approach his borders -- he certainly didn't give her the impression he was some supplicant come to claw a position in her rogue band. his accent was strange to her, and it prompted a single curl of her ear in surprise. the rake knew not what a gunwhale was -- it took a moment of internal analyzing before she ventured forth a reply.
"you mean shores?" she inquired, her sly gaze slightly narrowed as she unabashedly continued to study him. "it is."

I think she'd be a lovely wife... lmfao
He lived his life among pirates, and stole from their company only to pillage and plunder, and such tasks did not lead him to converse with many. So, it was forgotten quite often by him that terms that were familiar to him were downright alien to most anybody else. "Yer borders, lass." He clarified. "Not a pirate are ye?" She was so much bone and salt he half expected her to be. "How far do ye claim past these trees?"

as the male clarified the word that had caused the coywolf consternation, caiaphas caught a faint hint of curiosity strike her. he was clearly seaborne -- but she had not realized there were wolves beyond themiscyra that claimed the salty shores as their home. if she knew how big the world truly was, perhaps she would have felt stupid -- needless to say, she was unaware of her ignorance and instead chose to coldly scowl at the male as he asked an inquiry she was certain she was not thrilled to divulge. why did he need to know? a shiftless expression darkened her coal-black countenance as she heightened her posture. ever the weasel, the little crow deflected the question with an inquiry of her own. "who's asking?"

LMAO yes.
He narrowed his eyes and ran his tongue along his mouth. He loathed to be questioned, but even more so, he loathed not to be answered. Fortunately for her, her question was one he did not mind answering so much, for he was inclined to want others to know his name, as many as possible in fact.
"Ferahgo, Captain Blackbeard hisself, be askin'," he answered, and he lifted his nose imperiously, peering down its length at her. "Now who are ye, and what lies past these trees?"
February 09, 2016, 08:34 PM
it seemed she had unwittingly dislodged a crack in the wolf's exterior -- he seemed visibly vexed by her deflection. a smug, atrocious smile dimly spread across her loathsome muzzle, but she made no comment in regards to her discovery. the waif perched primly on her haunches, never once allowing her gaze to stray from the weather-worn wolf's visage. many wolves were rocked to discomfiture by her intensity, but it seemed the only thing that ruffled ferahgo so far was her indirectness. unfortunately for the peppered male, he was not the first to fall into her spidery contrivance and would certainly not be the last. "captain feralgo." the mispronunciation was deliberate, yet her expression suggested she was innocent to such a blunder. vlad would have delighted in encountering this character -- caiaphas had no doubts he would have immediately pointed out the synchronicity of their names -- blackface and blackbeard. she suddenly turned to the forest as if inspecting it for the first time. "why, more trees of course." was there any creature in the entire of the earth more obtuse than caiaphas in this given moment?

Her gaze was settled openly on his face, but his own baleful eyes travelled down to stare predatorily at the thin curve of her throat, before they flicked up to peer out from beneath his brows as his muzzle tipped toward the snow. "So, ye fancy yerself a jester?" He prowled toward where she sat so queenly, but here she was without her throne, and without any court appointed guard, either. For each step he took his lips raised, brazenly displaying his fangs in a grin most malign.

caiaphas felt her skin crawl as the wolf spoke, trawling towards her as if he were some predator come before her to blot out her existence. her muzzle wrinkled, matching his raised lips tit for tat. if he drew too close, he would find the flash of her fangs were anything but joking material. "no, but i do fancy myself wondering why you're so curious about my trees, feralgo." she knew it wasn't trees he was interested in, but had included them for the sole sake of being mulish.

I feel like these two would make good frenemies at some point lol. Per the epic roll I made, she gets to escape!
He could find out for himself. Or better yet, send a crewwolf to do it for him. In this way, as impatient as he was, he could bide his time. In his scheming mind he believed he always got his way and indeed he always had before, so, why should this time be any different. For now he sought a different sort of entertainment, a distraction, and lunged forward fully intent on grabbing her muzzle and wrestling the pestilent thing to the ground.

frenemies YES!! also, if you roll for next turn do feel free roll for me if you need to (kinda like what we did last time?)
she cut the pirate a cold gaze, her hackles stiffening as she recognized the tell-tale signs of offense emanating from his posture. she adopted a defensive strategy immediately -- and it paid off when the male pulled towards her intent on attack. she snarled aggressively and neatly shouldered herself to the side in an athletic parry, her teeth flashing at his outstretched muzzle in a spittle-fueled warning snaps. the distance between them meant her retort would not hit -- it was not supposed to -- rather, it served well as a suggestive warning that if he tried again she would surely draw blood for his foolish endeavor. a smug, yet somewhat dangerous smile seemed to tug her muzzle. "try that again, captain, and the only command you will have is over the dead." she snarled coldly, her head and tail rising to signify her superiority. "now, piss off." she angled herself so that she was directly in between him and the sound -- should he test her patience he would find all manner of teeth awaiting his trespass.

I sort of intended that it was a one roll deal! He was going to try to catch her, but she got away because you won the roll, so he's going to scoot before he gets his tail chewed off by her pack ;)
It had been a daring move on his part; he sought to make a point and to seize control in an instant, but like a seafaring fish she slipped from his grasp just as quickly. He had underestimated her, in a way, and as she parried his attack he sprang to the side to avoid her countermeasure. Her teeth snapped in the air. Had he not been so close to her domain he may have tried something else, but the Captain was no fool. He guffawed, "haw! I would rather like to have command over the dead!"
Just may not right now.
He took his chance to leave, dismissing himself from her with an toothy grin and a wink directed to her. He quartered away, preventing any surprise attacks at his backside.

caiaphas watched the wolf with rueful hate filling her gaze -- no sooner had her teeth clacked together had she recoiled -- in that same breath, ferahgo had done the same. the distance between them thrummed, and the hulking she-wolf watched him like some feral craven before a carcass. she uttered no riposte -- her retort showed in her crowing expression, which teetered with goading. the rake would watch him leave and at length she would distantly trail his scent to make sure he made no attempts to return to her domain.
