as they came closer to wraen's destination arcturus noticed a subtle shift in her demeanor; a lightness in her step nearly untraceable.

he did not comment upon it, though his gaze was drawn uphill as he considered wraen's answer. he wished to hold a fraction of her courage -- there were many things that worried him, dogged after him like unrelenting hounds at his heel.

eventually, he would come upon a wall.

there were so many ways their lives could take a turn - some for the better, some for the worse. arcturus was compelled to think of how a single thing could set their lives in motion - something as small as a ripple in a pond, even. it unnerved him.

"no, not worried for me. maybe cautious is the better term. i feel cautious, all the time." arcturus supplied. wraen would know he was not an optimist -- not in the way that mattered. "sometimes it feels like i see a shadow out of the corner of my eye, or above my head -- and i am always just waiting for the owner of that shadow to pounce."
