wraen had a point, as she often did, about how one thing could not exist without the other. he supposed much like light needed darkness to be brilliant, so life needed desolation to be euphoric. all the same, he wondered if the trajectory of his life was truly up... and if it wasn’t, much like wraen said, how would he even know?

unsettled, the mountaineer watched as wraen began to make her bed for the night. he was distracted by her comment to the point when she asked about rau he was deep in thought. who is rau? arcturus asked automatically, feeling a bristle of protectiveness for wraen before he remembered his story. oh. well... if i have learned one thing from your sister, its that sometimes you need to polish a story before you tell it. this one is not quite ready yet. he’d given the story little thought since that day, and to be frank much of the plot and ideas had trickled from him and escaped his memory. maybe tomorrow after a good night’s sleep, i can work on it to make it better.
