teya had gathered at a 'table' of her own, keeping sorana close. she was offered more berries and declined, though did partake in the sweetmeats of sheep which were also brought around.
something was happening, a new spectacle. teya expected singing, dancing; anything besides what she witnessed.
her mouth was dry; as the animal cried out, she moved to shield sorana, but it was too late.
ears pinned back, teya watched as father and daughter exchanged an ancient look, and then found her own voice rising, hoarse, shocked, the sound of a dutiful emissary.
