Although she would understand if her mother choose the man over her to assist with the death songs, it would still hurt a little. But, perhaps, it was what she’d deserve for being away for so long. Through her thought she hardly noticed the other wolf who arrived. 

When she felt twin gemstones upon her, she pulled herself from her insecurity and sighed in relief.

I will, she promised, exhaling in relief as she pressed her nose against her mother’s forehead. I promise.
