All Welcome
A majority of cubs had reached their first year; New Snow was proud of both the Rise and the cubs for it. New Snow headed to one of the younger ones now, Wolverine (@Lilia), with a bloodied hare in tow. Others had been felled, and she would deliver them too; New Snow had held the desire to stretch her legs and hunt while she could. Whether or not she had conceived again, successfully, would surely be known in the next few weeks. But for now New Snow took every advantage that came with not (visibly) being with child, and in good health!

Between blood and weather, New Snow distinguished the scent of the young girl, separating it from the rest. But perhaps she might run into @Masquerade or @Relic first. Snow began to gently fall, and New Snow started when a large mound of snow collapsed from atop tree limbs that could no longer support its weight. With a huff and a snort, New Snow resumed her tracking of the girl.

Though she longed to go scouting and ranging again, Lilia instead kept herself close to home, directing her attention toward patrolling and hunting, knowing it would only be a matter of weeks before there were young pups in the pack again. Having been a starveling whelp that had been taken in as a child, she thought she had an idea of how demanding children would be. Truthfully, she had no idea- but at least she was motivated to help them.

She zig-zagged through the forest, tracking the scent left behind by a small herd of mountain goats, ranging through their territory. An unusual find, she thought- but perhaps they too were fleeing the unstable snow conditions on the mountains. She could have sworn she'd heard the thundering sound of an avalanche in the distance a day ago.

Her concentration broke when she saw New Snow, but she eagerly welcomed the sight of the woman with a wave of her tail. New Snow was a perfect hunting companion- though it appeared as though she'd already made a kill.

The love that New Snow bore Wolverine was maternal in nature. Perhaps it was because her own daughter had been lost to her, or perhaps it had been the age that the dark-furred girl had come to them. Regardless, Wolverine was becoming a woman now. A yearling, but strong. She had survived Winter with the Rise and come out stronger for it.

New Snow commended the girl happily with a warm rumble, and offered to her the gift by waving it in the air enticingly before her. And then she placed it to the earth and happily nudged it towards her.

She paused, and regarded New Snow with curiosity when she set her kill down, and nudged it in her direction. It'd been some time since she'd been offered food by someone else, now that she was fit and skilled enough to hunt for herself. She tilted her head to the side, moved by the gesture, but still somewhat confused.

"For me?" She asked, rhetorically, though her real question was why? Still- a free meal wasn't to be turned down, especially not when it came from someone she knew cared about her. No explanation was really needed. "Thankth- wabbit'th one of my favouriteth," She said. She could use a snack, if she was going to keep tracking the mountain goats.

"Share thome with me?" She asked, laying down in the snow so they could enjoy the meal together, if New Snow accepted her request.

sorry, I disappeared for a bit but am returned!

New Snow waved her tail at the girl, and the question, nostrils flaring. While she could not understand, it seemed her Wolverine was happy and this was what mattered to her. Sliding onto her belly alongside the darker wolf, New Snow accepted her offer but only took a small amount. She was not terribly hungry herself, but this act of bonding was not lost on her.

And then, still laying, she drew her own nose to her belly. Softly New Snow sniffed and licked at the furs there. Withdrawing, her tail beat against the earth gently, and she looked back to Wolverine, laying her muzzle atop one foreleg. She emitted a happy grumble.

I’m very glad you’re back <3

A rabbit was a short snack, split between two wolves. Lilia herself could wolf down an entire rabbit in mere seconds- so long as no one was present to see her do it, as it was a morbid sight. She took hungry mouthfuls of the rabbit, but took the time to chew, and strip it into manageable pieces- her way of saying how much she appreciated New Snow’s company, and the meal she’d offered.

She was licking her chest when she noticed the way New Snow had turned around to smoothe the fur of her side. It didn’t occur to Lilia that perhaps New Snow might be pregnant. Her scent had faded not long ago- and it would’ve been an insult to ask at this point anyway, considering the fact that her body had not changed yet.

She wanted to resume her tracking- but New Snow seemed to want companionship, and placed her head on one leg. Lilia took that as an invitation, and scooched closer so that she could preen and groom the fur along the back of New Snow’s neck and shoulders.
