tw: cannibalism
this is AW!

Down the mountain. Through the valley (a rotting smell was sure to stick to the blossoms). Into a nearby forest.

It’s quiet, secluded, dark. The perfect place to finish dining.

The body made a soft thud as it fell to the earth. It had already grown stiff after a day. No matter! It was still fresh.

Parasite dug his teeth into the belly and jerk his head back and forth as if it were a toy. A cheshire grin spread across his face. He always enjoyed playing with his food.

The skin slowly began to tear, and soon blood and guts spilled on the floor. Parasite feverishly consumed the flesh.

Arlette had been mourning at the grave of her loved one and once a day she would make her round and just be with him for a moment. Remembering the good time they had together. She was about to leave when a rotting smell came her way. The female frowned. It was not a smell that was normal around here. It couldn't be Kaito, he had been given to the ground. The smell of blood followed and the female decided to check it out. Such a scent was not normal. Luckily the cougar had been killed so it couldn't be that savage beast.

The female crept closer to find a wolf eating a... wolf! What? She frowned and was about to move away when she saw the old scarring on the dead wolf's side. Clay. WHAT? Clay? Her brother? Dead? And this beast was eating her brother? Arlette felt her anger surge. WHY! Why was is always her family that was suffering? She blindly charged at the other, wanting that wolf to be as far away as possible from her brother. "THAT IS MY BROTHER," she roared. Arlette wanted this disgusting wolf away from her brother. She instantly howled for help for anyone that might hear.

The drumming of footsteps grow louder and louder. Parasite looked up much too late (he was desperate to eat whatever he could). A woman shoved herself into him, and he was sent stumbling back.

He chuckled as soon as he was able to regain his thoughts. Brother? One wide eye locks onto the torn face of his victim, then moves to hers. How interesting!

The laugh grew louder when she released a rally call. You shouldn’t have done that. Now she must die. They’ll all die.

Parasite skittered to her side and leaped towards her neck.

I was going to bring him back to say hello to family, but this will also do...

He would not have recognized her face nor form, so bent and scarred from when he had seen her last, but Merrit would always know the voice of his sister.

The raven tore through the forest, his quarry forgotten; a small pile of stones he had collected from a river nearby. He would find them again, and if he did not, then he would find others to fill the purpose he would give them.

For now, they did not matter. His purpose fixed on the wild man, and his pupils narrowed to pinpricks within their hazel sea.

He flung himself forward, as Tuathal had shown him, and aimed his jaws at the perpetrator’s face.

SQUEAKS

Arlette quickly regained her footing when she barreled into the other. The small female tried to make herself look big but she was no fierce protector. At least, that was what she felt like. The pale female was readying herself for an incoming attack but the other only spoke that she shouldn't have done that. A huff left her lips when the other stalked closer. Arlette had been grabbed by her neck before, where the cougar had bitten down. So she automatically jumped back trying to avoid the attack.

As she braced herself for impact there was suddenly another wolf. Helped arrived! But then she realized that this was no one from Easthollow. She stiffened for a moment as it took her some time to recognize the white whiskers and cool dark tones of his fur. Merrit! She gasped. Her brother! Another brother! Arlette also recognized that if she attacked as well it was a two against one. So the lunged for the other's hind leg.

Edit: If you want to roll for the hit let me know!!

His eyes grow wide and go wicked as he flew through the air. Stupid girl. She shouldn’t have done that. She’ll pay with her flesh. Oh yes! He’d rip that face apart, make a meal of it. Oh, how delightful that would be!

He was so, so close, he could practically taste the blood. Then the hunt takes a turn. A knight in shining armor grabs the beast by the face, and the princess turns around and grabs the leg. Parasite writhed and screeched. He snapped at the man while he kicked at the girl with his free limb.

Merrit's teeth find purchase with the heathen's face; he clamps, and twists. He is used to the feeling of severing flesh. As a beast of blood, they all must be. Yet there is still something about the act of piercing a wolf and tasting its blood, though so much like a deer's, that sears his throat with bile. Liquid vomit salivates around the corners of his mouth. Even still, Merrit does not let go, until the tear of flesh makes him.

He doesn't know the damage he's done to the other wolf's face. The heathen is far too quick. Before Merrit can rebound and strike again, he feels the sting of teeth against his own face, tearing across his brow and clicking along the length of his cheek. He recoils -- expects the beast to follow -- but something is weighing him down. Merrit blinks through the blood which blurs his vision, and catches sight of white hanging onto the heathen's heel.

Arlette. His pride swells, and his heart for his sister spurs him forward. He feints a strike to the right, and, if it looks like the beast is following, he'll swing back and shoot up from the left instead, to grab the soft flesh of the other wolf's arm, shoulder, or neck, and attempt to jerk him off-kilter and bring him to the ground.

Arlette was eager to not release the male knowing the it might help her brother by keeping the other at bay. Still, that didn't mean that the male they were attacking was not fighting back. He was kicking at her and trying to get her grip to loosen. A mighty kick hit her chest and her grip loosened. Still the little female was not going to allow the other to escape.

She instantly tried to counter, her chest hurting a bit. Another scar, if she would have one, would not be noticed probably. Instead of grabbing his lower ankle like she had done before she tried to sink her teeth in the back of his upper thigh. There he would be able to kick less. Plus she wouldn't be bothered if her teeth happened to snatch his precious jewels between his legs when she clamped down on his upper thigh. Hopefully Merrit would keep the other busy at the front. If not she would take the hit for her brother.

Parasite tore away from the man’s grip. Skin tore from flesh. There’d be a scar below his eye in time, but it’d be small compared to the one’s that littered his body. He had no way of knowing that in the moment. All he knew is the man had screwed up his face even more than it already was. Wolves who did that ended up with eaten eyes.

The monster lunged forward, and this time he didn’t get a mouthful of air. His teeth tore through the knights armor. Meanwhile he’d kicked the princess from his foot. It’s a small victory, but it wasn’t enough to win this battle.

After the man came to his senses, he struck Parasite’s arm and brought him down. Maybe he could’ve gotten up if it weren’t for his partner. She had a firm grip on his thigh now.

Let me go! He kicked, spat, bit, and screeched. Let. Me. GO!

His strike is successful; his teeth pair with the soft flesh of the heathen's underside, and soon they are both sent tumbling to the ground. The other screams. Merrit folds his ears againt his wails. Do you know what we must do?

Merrit holds the heathen's arm with the weight of his head, and aims to shove his shoulder into the other's chest to try and gain better grip of the man.

How this must end?

The other is volatile, violent in his movements. Merrit feels his grip slipping. He has less than seconds to make his choice, a decision he has never needed to make.

He thrusts against the ground with the force he can muster at this strange and twisted angle, and swings his leg and torso in an airborne arc. Open jaws plunge at the heathen's neck. He aims for lifeblood, and prepares to meet nothing -- for has no way to know how to prepare for anything else.

This was a bit tricky to write, given Parasite's current position, but I tried to give you the opening for an out in that last paragraph!

Arlette frowned when the man called for them to let him go. She reluctantly let him go but stayed defensive in case it was a ruse. Merrit was still holding him though. The female looked at her brother with big eyes. She had never seen him like this. Perhaps it meant, that they both have changed. She watched how the male flipped him to the ground with brute force. The female wanted the male with wide eyes.

"Merrit," she spoke quietly. "Let's just bring Clay home," she ended a whisper. This male was clearly something wrong with for him to want to eat the flesh of wolves. She shuddered and moved to Clay. Her face fell, that dark sadness returning to the foreground which she had so successfully pushed away. Her little brother, barely recognizable. He was far too young.

She would have traded places with him, if she was able.

-- and he will not learn the feeling, in physicality nor moral weight, of spilling another's lifeblood today. When his jaws meet the coordinates of his aim, his target turns to empty space, and when Merrit rises, the heathen is already gone, ragged tail streaming through the glade like an overgrown rat.

And Merrit would follow, if not for knowing the parasite's escape must, in turn, mean that somewhere along the way, Arlette had lost her grip. He turns in a tight circle, midnight fur all on end, and sea-stung eyes sharp with unspeakable intensity -- and all the more, when his gaze falls upon his sister and the broken bits of another.

"Arlette," his breath hitches when he sees her scars, but he has little time to dwell on the questions they raise; when he turns to face the scene, his racing mind connects the name his sister spoke with those neutral scraps of fur that wilt from the other's corpse like late September flowers.

No.

He clunks forward on trembling legs, the only motion in his tense robotic crawl, and when he reaches them, he is silent but his mind is screaming. Uncontrollable, anguished and pained, while his thin mouth runs entirely silent. He looks upon his brother with brows drawn and a face as hard as the stone he will soon be buried under.

I don't mind wrapping up here and starting something new in EH unless you want to do one more round!

I will wrap it up and make a new one!

Arlette noticed that Merrit's eyes moved over her scars before he made his way to Clay. She recognized the scarring on his hind and his slate color but there was little left of him. She shuddered and then walked next to her brother. As ferocious as he looked before, that was how compassionate he looked now. She looked with a sad gaze at Clay. "I hope he is the last death we will endure for awhile," she spoke. She had so much to tell him. She wanted him to know about Kaito, and about her children. But that would take too long. Before she would get a questioning glance she spoke: "Aunt Nanook died protecting the pack from a cougar."

With that said, which she knew was a bombshell, she helped Merrit with getting Clay's body back to Easthollow grounds. She knew her mother was going to be devastated. She cared little for her mother though, not after everything that happened.
