Laurel enjoyed having power over someone, because it was such a rare occasion. She was so sick and tired of others always getting the better of her; it was good to be on the other side. The ugly emotions roaring through her helped fuel her misdirected anger. When he said that the prize was all hers and that he just wanted to get away, she contemplated chasing him down and tearing him limb from limb. Yet Laurel knew she too would not get away unscathed and honestly, she had never been much of a fighter. She preferred intimidation over physical conflict.

And why would I let you go? she snarled darkly as her eyes stared darkly into his and she took a few steps closer, her voice sounding as though she was asking him a genuine question. She didn't really want more (she wasn't sure she even wanted this) but she couldn't help but ask, high on the rush of power.
