All Welcome
at one month of age, and far too ambulatory for a child his size, kiyya was often trying to escape the sight of his parents. it wasn't done to thwart their rule, or with any nefarious purpose—he simply needed to move and could no do so adequately within their shared space.

he escaped from the puppy pile and got as far as the next hallway before a fellow fellahin caught him, and once cornered he began to sound the alarm! a screeching howl (or something like one) filled the hallway and pierced the ears of those within muat-riya.

something, someone! was ruining her beauty sleep. tiye lifts her head towards the light and stumbles out to follow the howl to return it with one of her own — this one to protest what she realized was her brother kiyya's alarm.

shut up! or ill tell baba! is what she probably could've said had she grown just a little more. the coywolf cub waddles closer to her brother, continuing her own cries in between chuffs, squeaks, and false starts.

can be a cameo!

the crocodile's shadow fell across the escapant son and shouting daughter.

a grunt. the massive jaws descended for them both, intending to swing them back into the nursery by their tails if need be.

khusobek loved his children deeply. he also enjoyed being overseer of muat-riya, and was on high alert since the invasion had happened. "stay here. your mother will worry if you go, kiyya."

His adventure was curtailed by Khusobek swiftly enough.

Kiyya huffed but sat, attentive to his father, and when his back was turned the boy looked to Tiye and stuck out his tongue in a childish display.

After that, he sat up straighter and babbled at their father—as if they were having a very important conversation.

It was all nonsense, of course.

kiyya has the nerve to disrespect her! after being such a cry baby!

she leans onto her stubby paws, and erupts into a glorious one inch pounce towards her babbling brother, keen on punishing him.

his important conversation could wait.

amused, khusobek maintained his watch, observing what the pups might do next while splitting focus upon the hallway beyond, listening to the movements in the corridors even beyond that one.

and he was content.
