King Elk Forest Before it ends we should try to start

Niamh stayed where she was, peering after the elk which she could just see in the distance. She counted them, and tried to pick out individuals so that she would be able to tell, the next time she saw a herd of elk, if they were the same ones. There were six females, and one of them in particular looked like she was very near the end of her pregnancy. If only she'd brought a few other wolves with her...The pregnant cow elk was so fat, surely she wouldn't have been able to run well...Maybe they could have taken her down. But as she watched, that particular cow elk seemed to prefer staying in the middle of the group. She would have been too hard to separate. 

So silently the owl flew, that Niamh didn't hear it as he descended and landed upon a branch. Niamh's attention was fixated upon the elk, anyway, but she'd decided, by that point, that there wasn't much else she could do, but come back in a day or two and see where they'd gone- and if the cow elk had begun to drop their calves. Deciding to leave them be, at least for the night, she picked herself up and began to walk back in the direction of her pack- oblivious to the fact that she was being watched.
