his sister’s eyes were sharp upon him; for all their fathomless blues, arcturus felt them scalding. he’s just a child — arcturus found himself countering, bewildered by his own defense of the inexplicable. the boy had already suffered — perhaps more than fangs could readily dole — and arcturus found himself pitying the child more than hating him.
