There was hostility in his voice when he snarled a response, and she bared her teeth, echoing his growl with one of her own as he explained- at least a bit- that he'd mistaken her for his sister. 

It was one thing for him to have made the wrong choice in choosing to stand up to his Regent, who was one of the likely the least likely Firebirds to tolerate any amount of resistance. But it was something else altogether to say what he said next, to a wolf who chose to interpret his words to mean that he found her both fat and ugly. Well, she could repay that inferance in kind.
