The grotto was a remarkable place- one that Lilia felt was like a secret, known to very few. Not all wolves would spend the amount of time it took to scale the ledges to descend down into the earth, and some might fear they’d lose their nerve halfway down. Lilia had come this way a few times before- and it was with that practice that enabled her to know which ledges to trust, and which to skip over.

The air was cool and still, and the rain more forgiving within the deep forest. She could smell that there was another wolf in the area, but in spite of the reality of being in a very large pit with a complete stranger, she expected little danger. This was a peaceful place; she suspected any who came here were likely just in search of a bit of quiet.

Like the other wolf, she too was drawn to the water source which she knew would be fresh and cold, bearing a slightly mineral taste. She approached the water’s edge and cast a soft glance in his direction, before she waded in up to her ankles and began to drink.
