the listener spent the days following the ritual in @Ingram's care, too weak even to walk short distances at first. slowly, her sea-tossed body recovered, though changes were apparent. a new haggard quality lent itself to her sharp features, aged her beyond her scant few months earthside. the fur along her spine had taken a lighter cast. brine worked its way into the bones of her, too, and now she carried the perfume of the sea wherever she went.

yet when strength returned to her spindly battered limbs, the wolf touched by divinity itself became an unstoppable force.

past any protests by her keeper or her speaker, the prophet took her leave in the pale glow of early dawn. she pressed into the depths of the druids' grove, and sought the eldritch berries tucked in clusters among twisted mossy trees and crowding greenery.

ghostly berries clutched like glittering sacred gems, the prophet followed the trail of @Nyra.

Nyra herself was still getting over the effects of the ritual, though she pushed past the after effects of headache from eating a berry to patrol and secure the islands.

Occasionally, she'd even still see a dark spirit flitting through the underbrush.

Hearing light footfalls behind her, Nyra turned her head over her shoulder to see The Listener.
She stopped, dipping her head in greeting before turning to face the unchild with berries in her maw.

"Listener." Nyra greeted again verbally.

the prophet laid the berries carefully upon the sacred soil of the druids' grove, eyes lifting to search the scarred features of the pale queen.

your journey has been long and harrowing, the listener began, referring to the scars that littered her ice-woven pelt. but you have not yet attained that which has been fated for you. you have walked the path of the warrior. now you must walk the path of the druids, to reveal your true potential.

with a gesture to the eldritch berries, she continued. eldritch berries. named for your sister. take two. then we will begin.

Nyra watched as the Listener placed the berries upon the ground, speaking to her about the path she was fated for.

That which she had yet to obtain.

The future she would reach her full potential for, with the Druids' help.

The name of the berries, based on her sister...it was touching. Briefly, but touching.

The Warmaiden nodded once, softly, and stepped forward to take the directed dosage.

She stepped back a couple paces and chewed, then swallowed. Her gaze would remain on The Listener as the berries coursed her system, and eventually, would take effect.

you must learn to hear the will of the unnamed god.

her path would be a crude one, the winding fledgling-forged road once walked by the listener herself. it was the only way.

only the chosen prophet would ever hear the words of their god directly.

the spirits will whisper to you. demons dwell among them. false idols. you must learn to hear the truth among the lies. the listener watched her carefully, leaning close, tasting the fruit-scent on her breath. she watched her features change as the sacred berries gave her true vision. the gift of the otherworld.

that is where you will find yourself. your destiny.

and so it began.

we can fade with your post <33 you can make assumptions for what follows or leave it to the imagination, i'd be fine with either!
