All Welcome
@Bayek? :)
Wolves must be wary of prowling mountain lions, and flocks of vultures will challenge for control over any carcass.

she had been sent off to the steppes to be among the medjay.

his company did not anger her. in fact, he seemed every bit a proper man in most regards. she only loathed being sent off beyond akashingo when she had seemingly only just returned.

yet she played her part. she toiled among the soldiers in the steppes.

especially as a pungent scent crept into her nose. not coyote nor any other canid scent. sharp, unlike anything she had found before.

Not me making you a thread at the exact same time. ;w; Heheh! I’ll take two if you’re down? <3

Prince Makono had joined him in his walks. The Medjay did not mind the young wolf’s company. Makono was bright and dutiful, sharp, willing. There were many things that the prince carried in her spirit that would make for a good ruler.

As they moved to scout the terrain near the steppes, a sharp scent was found. Bayek glanced toward the blue-eyed youth. He was curious what she might say about the found marking. It was a smell that could not be confused with anything else.

There was a cougar in the vicinity.

What do you smell, Prince Makono?

the medjay continued to prove to be a boon to her.

yet she did not place him in her circle. not yet. still too fresh and uncertain upon his intents. regardless she learned from him. allowed herself to enjoy his company for what it was.

his question gave her ears a raise in stance.

feline.

and yet she could not place what kind, how big or how much of a concern it should be this close to the mesa. for only a brief moment she thought fondly of @Toula and how she would blame herself forever if the cat came so close to her pious sister.

Very good, he praised in a gentle voice. A wag of his tail followed. Feline was a wide umbrella. Most of the wild cats were dangerous, quick, but the cougars were like reapers in their ability to appear and kill without their prey being aware.

Bayek did not want for the prince to worry. He would step in the way of the puma before Makona was ever at risk. It was the duty of the Mazoi to keep their royal members safe and sound.

Which way? he asked his companion, eyes trained on the young wolf’s face.

we must be positive the cat is at bay.

she did not wish to hear disclaimers of danger, of warnings or any of the sort.

her path would cut ahead to lead them into the lion's den. figuratively, for now at least. but it was a noble thing, this she convinced herself of.

to protect akashingo, to think of her sisters in this work.

Very sharp, Prince Makono.

The assassin’s voice was steady, grounded. He would appropriately compliment the young royal, when she had used her skills in such a way. She thought of her kingdom first. This was relieving to Bayek, who had seen rulers cast aside their masses, without caution, without care. Makono would do well in her rule, if she could remember who served her and who she was expected to protect.

They can be dangerous. They swoop in with razor claws – claws that will slice you before you have had a chance to show your fangs. They are faster than we. They are more savage.

Bayek studied his young pupil with a thoughtful expression.

You and I will search for its grounds and make preparations for its removal. Lead on, Prince Makono.

she wished very much to be like a feline in that way. razor claws, faster, savage. yet she did not speak these unholy wishes. meant to be content in the flesh she had given.

although had she ever been?

tell me the methods of removal for such a beast? she continued her prowl, even as her voice pattered down into a hushed volume.

he would teach and she would learn.
