All Welcome
she'd never been here before.
not that she'd ever gotten out much to begin with, but she was certainly in unfamiliar territory now. a few hours of sleep gave her enough strength to continue, but as the path grew steep and the terrain grew icy, dinah's morale began to waver. she was certainly no mountain climber — had she ever really even seen one before today?
she comes to a stopping point on an overlook, where, after she catches her breath, she takes a moment to marvel at the view in childish wonder. everything looks so small; the trees that dot the mountainsides and the snow's harsh grip upon them, a herd of pronghorn bobbing and weaving in search of nourishment in the far distance.
she hollers a sharp note and listens to her voice bounce and ricochet o'er the hills, and laughs away the shortness of her breath afterward. a dry laugh, meant for no one in particular, but at least it was a laugh — much needed after the past forty-eight hours. she feels good, for once; feels free!
now all she has to do is figure out how the hell to get down from here.
I'll stay here through the darkest night

Starlette's trek to Sunbeam Lair deviated from dad's instructions in two ways. First, she'd approached from the South instead of the North, and second, she took her sweet old time exploring the sprawling land along the way. But as long as she returned to the beaten path before the next day started, she trained, she'd be fine in finding her way back to the way she was supposed to be going.

It felt good to be back in the Wilds again, and this time, different than the first. Dispersed for real now - it was any girl's dream!

Woman's, she corrected herself, though she admittedly felt giddy as a kid who'd just been given the choicest piece of bison they'd ever got!

She giggled as she came to the crest of the mountain and bounded along the shallow ridge. Rocks spilled down from around her paws, the uneven ground disturbed, but not breaking yet. On the air, the voice of another traveller! Starlette hears the echo and, nearby through the trees reaching around her, its source.

Turning her head towards the bare side of the ridge, she shouts, Hello! and lets it echo back to the girl who shouted first.

<333 HI JACLYN

one's own voice cannot speak back to them, right?
certainly not. dinah freezes at the abrupt sound, blinking and turning her head wildly until she finds the source — a girl close to her in age, alone just as much as she herself was. she seems friendly enough; dinah had never been a fan of strangers, but now was as good a time as any to rid herself of that fear.
she smiles back, ribbon of flaming tail swaying in a sort of greeting. isn't it beautiful up here? she calls, gesturing out toward the landscape. you can see for miles out!
