All Welcome
A herd of deer at the lake.

She watched as they drank from it to cool from the rising summer heat. She alone was not enough to take any of them, healthy and prime, so it seemed they did not immediately fret at her watching.

Her eyes scanned among them for the youngest, the oldest.

One raised its head, dark round eyes focused upon her in a way that felt like the gaze pierced her. A shiver down her spine as she turned her head to look over her shoulder.

Had the doe seen something that she had not noticed yet?

It took longer than she’d have liked but Bridget was finally heading back home. She hadn’t planned on rushing the trip, wanting to take advantage of the chance to pass through a few unfamiliar places and maybe stretch her medic skills a tidge. But she’d been gone a while already; it was probably better, she imagined, to just head directly back and then maybe travel a bit after. With that came another decision, one that weighed on her mind a bit as she traveled. Did she stay in Brecheliant, or was it time to move on?

Luckily for both she and the aspiring hunter, Bridget wasn’t distracted enough to not notice the deer before they noticed her. She spotted them before she was aware of the other wolf and immediately stopped, their scent flooding her senses as the wind carried it down to her. Shit, that was pure luck. If she hadn’t come from downwind by chance they’d have bolted a ways back.

Sinking low, Bridget watched the herd for a moment with appreciation. It was too bad Amalia wasn’t here right now; she still owed the woman a hunt. She wouldn’t disturb them if she could help it; with that in mind, she skirted the herd, trying to keep both low and downwind.
