After hearing the news about his mother, Kigipigak did eventually cross the boundary in to Moonglow. He followed the well-worn path until it became a crossroads of sorts, one route leading towards the sleeping places and his children, and the other to the firemother.

Strangely, he found himself heading along the westward path where the tree stood tall and resplendent in the summer light. It appeared to burn with shades of red and gold, fitting for its name; and Kigipigak found a place beneath it, within its shade, where he could sit and digest what Sikuyasi had commanded of him.
