nothing about anything felt settled and so there was a hint of wrongness in teya when she realized what the low humming in her belly had been all day. as a bold winter's moon rose to its place in the heavenly sky, turning the snow underfoot to a bright and marble sheen, the raven breathed out and felt the familiar motes of gold and rose and starlight settle under her skin.

as she waited, teya shut her eyes and upturned her face to the lush curves of the moon, and began to dance. not as gracefully as ibis but in those long-remembered steps, gasping a laugh once as she stumbled and then shutting her eyes so tightly as she tried to pull the woman's face back into the plain view of her memory.
