Kigipigak found it a strain to be near her now, or rather near her spirituality, and became physically distant. At first he cited needing to go further from the village to scout for meals, but really he mourned in his own way.

During this exploration beyond the village limits he came across a few wolf scents; they were strong, so they were recent. Evidently someone had been crossing the outer limits of their village. Kigipigak let out a low rumble of dislike, but did not turn back.

Whoever it was, he would find them.
