Pack Activity
this is an informative howl thread, replying is optional :)

As promised, Charon had waited one day before announcing @Floki 's ascension to leadership. He'd talked it over with @Amekaze — having her agree to it beforehand, informing her of Flóki's acceptance afterwards — and now, a day after his younger siblings' ascension to the adult ranks, it was time to share the news.

A howl rose through Moonspear's peak to announce the pack's new young Beta. Charon assumed that soon Amekaze's voice would join to further strengthen the resolve of the message, to confirm that it was a decision made in mutual agreement. There was pride in Charon's voice as he made the announcement; he knew it was a good decision.

When Charon's call went up, Floki's heart leaped into his throat. His brother had given him approximately twenty-four hours to process the news and now there was no going back. It had been announced to the entire pack; a new leader had joined the ranks.

Excitedly, Floki made his way to one of the ledges jutting out from Moonspear's slope. Down below, the trees were covered with a fresh layer of snow. The young Beta drew in a deep breath of sharp, cold air, then tipped his head back and gave a howl of his own, acknowledging Charon's message and expressing his thanks.

He then fell silent, listening with pricked ears to see if his packmates would reply.

Wildfire didn't know if it was her place but she was so damn proud of Floki. He was young but she could think of no one more deserving of such an honor. She realized it might have an impact on their budding relationship—he would have a lot more responsibilities now, for example, and less time to spend bopping around with her—but she didn't let it worry her. Besides, it was kind of cool to think that she was a Beta's girlfriend (of sorts).

When the official howl rose up into the air, Wildfire smiled from ear to ear, then lifted her smudged snout and sang, "Congrats, Floki! You'll do great!" Her soft voice would not carry very far but hopefully he would hear it. Her black tail thumped on the ground as her call tapered away into silence, letting her chin fall to her forepaws as she listened for the rest of the pack's responses to the news.

With what seemed to be the natural flow of things, and after enough time to let it settle, it became more clear. She'd not felt necessarily troubled by the gap in their rankings insofar.. but the idea of having it occupied did bring a certain sort of satisfaction. In a pack that had reached record numbers rather quickly, there was no reason not to.

Flóki had been perhaps their number one supporter right from the start and frankly, no one else had seemed notably interested in the role despite the growing usefulness of it. So, she'd agreed.

In tandem with Charon, she rose her reedy, course voice to the cause. With this said, and one exhale of breath later, it was official. Flóki ascended to Beta of Moonspear.

Unsurprisingly, Amekaze wasn't feeling very sociable herself, so wouldn't single him out quite yet, but it lingered on her to-do lists among other things. There was much for him to learn first. After her own howl tapered off to silence and she paused to listen to the voices that followed, she hiked towards the upper reaches of the mountain.

Jace heard the howl and he lowered his head processing it. He lifted his nose and gave one short howl and then moved further away from the pack lands. He was debating, had been debating some time, and he had felt that he had lost his usefulness in this pack. Not because he was a bad wolf or anything of the sort, but more so because he was just there existing. He worked on hunting and the like, but his heart wasn't in it as it had been before.

He also couldn't quite place it, but there was a small flare of jealousy. He stuffed it down, mostly because he had given up his role willingly. He also had not want to get his position back. He settled to his haunches and looked out over the wide expanse of land and he wondered, should he even be here anymore?
I am more easily attainable for threads now. But please do bear in mind that I have three children under the age of five at home. And they do take up a lot of my time.

Thistle Cloud heard the howl and she lifted her nose and returned it. However, she too settled ot her haunches in her den. Though she was so very proud of her children, she couldn't help the prick of pain that twanged against her heart. It shouldn't be this way, her and Ragnar should still be ruling the Bay. He should still be here. She smiled though despite the pain, because her children all of them were making a way for themselves.

The howl went up and Tev's ears of velveteen platinum silver cupped as he began to discern the message it carried only to feel a horrible sinking feeling in his stomach. Floki was made Beta. He should have been proud and he knew that ...but the truth didn't align with what he should have felt. His ears slicked back to his skull feeling his aspirations being torn out from beneath him as if someone had thrown him against a concrete wall. He hadn't really ever gave voice to his desire to lead ...except to Wildfire; but he figured that Charon wouldn't want to hear it because they weren't on the best of terms but he never thought that Floki would become a leader. It wasn't necessarily because Tev doubted his twin's abilities but rather because Tev honestly couldn't see it. As children it had been Tev that had been the leader out of them, naturally taking charge without ever really thinking about it. He was brazen and fearless and he always counted on Floki to be his support system, his second in command. Not the other gods damned way around.

He heard other voices join. Amekaze, Floki, Wildfire. Thistle's. He'd heard but he couldn't bring himself to do it, too afraid that if he did his howl would not be one of celebration but rather one that would betray what he felt inside and, right now, he wasn't too ready to let his hurt and displeasure be known. Instead he let out a soft snarl and turned away from the borders, loping over them and heading into the free territories beyond, needing desperately to sort through everything on his own and as far away from the celebrating Moonspear as he could get.

Jace, Tev and Dash should all get together XD

The howl went up, and surprised Dash was glad no one was around him to see the expression on his face. He thought he understood the rankings of the pack. You work, you get promoted. Why then, was someone lower ranking than he getting promoted to the leadership ranks? He was Gamma. Was he not next in line to be considered?

His ears flicked back on his head, and he refused to join in on the howl. Well, if this was how it was going to be, then so be it. With a look at the den he had built so others could find him, he turned and walked away from it, no intention of coming back to it. He didn't want to be bothered by anyone, and so he would not be easy to find, even within the pack lands. His nomadic lifestyle had taught him well how to stay just out of reach of other wolves, and for the next couple of days, he would do just that. Not that anyone wanted to see him, anyways.

i felt like giving this some sort of half-wrap up post on my end so >_>
Her ears swiveled, contemplative as she aimed to catch the voices of the Moonspear wolves. Some joined them, others did not. She made note of who did and who did not, as curious as it was. Ame was interested to see what would come of it in the days then weeks that would follow. Would there be serious disagreement? Would someone feel themselves better suited? If so, she was interested to hear it, for as of now, Floki was their best candidate. Even with his inexperience as she believed he could grow into the role with just a bit of time and exposure.

She would consider this all alone and reconvene on it when ready so only when she was certain no one else was contributing, she glued herself to the nearest trail.
