@Astara ! Its OK if its a quickie

In the weeks following the pack meeting Galena could think nothing else of home. Her mothers and sister, united by a common goal but safe and loved in each others embrace. A unit of sisterhood, a palace to worship women and the miracle only they could perform: birth. Galena had seen plenty of that, surrounded by it since she was old enough to remember. Small responsibilities were placed upon the children... gather food from a cache, bring moss soaked in water, clean the den site... but the older she grew the more she learned. She apprenticed under the midwife — assisted in many pregnancies and child rearing. Procreation is the way forward, her Reverend mother would tell her, it is evolution. It is in our hands.

In the end, another was chosen from Galena's bloodline to continue the pursuit of an unobtainable dream, but the teachings were still deeply welded in the confines of her heart. Astara's scent pulled her in and deigned her to care and provide, as she had the many women before. A fat hare hung limp from her jaws, freshly killed. The dark mother would hide to den, soon, Galena knew... but where was her nest? It took some tracking but eventually the storm cloud happened upon Astara's rare trail and followed it, arriving at the dark queen wherever she may be.

few dared approach the nightshade’s lair this late in the hour. her belly swelled and her temper with it: any wolf that begged her company was met with a show of  needlethin teeth.

the scent of blood drew in the air; astara’s wet nose was the first glistening mark to break the shadows — followed by luminous eyes hungrily focused on galena.

her stomach rumbled, but still the wraith did not fully emerge from her den.

Oh my goodness so sorry for my delay!

The huntress slowed a wolf's length away from the mouth of the nest, peering inside to try and spot Astara. The scent of the Bruin-Witch was strong and so Galena was certain she was there. Slowly and respectfully she approached — understanding the ways of mothers... but underestimating Astara's feral nature. The shine of her inky nose probed from the wide mouth of the den, but the haunting movement of the mother wolf caused Galena's approach to cease. A silent warning. Watchful, violet eyes shone from the depths, but the storm-cloud didn't dare approach any further. She ducked her head, lowering the kill to the ground. "For our Reverend Mother," she said quietly, "I bring you food. May your daughters be blessed and strong."

many wolves had violated the sanctity of her den in these hours -- and many more would come, though she did not know it.

galena earned the nightcrow's respect then, for she stopped short of the invisible line that caused astara to bristle when it was crossed. she bent as if a supplicant, procuring the token for astara to visually inspect from afar. her nose twitched inquisitively; fat hare in this hour was but a rare treat after dining on naught but carrion for a week.

in loping gollum-strides astara broke from the den and snatched the hare delightfully; wheeling back in a surprisingly graceful rollback for one so gravid, she scuttled down the mouth of her den and could be heard ripping enthusiastically into flesh.

The dark witch revealed herself, greedily snapping up the carcass and retreating back into her lair. For a brief moment Galena could observed her swollen belly. The children would be here very soon. The huntress licked her chops, pleased that the mother had accepted her gift, and turned to leave. She would not stray too far, however. While many wolves protected Ursus' border (Revui, Toad, Evien, and Merrick Included), the Sister felt it her duty to patrol the inner circle and keep watch over the expectant woman. Though she would miss the drama Easthollow and Nightwalker wolves brought to their doorstep, Galena felt it was her place the guard the rook and her brood from hidden threats, especially those internal.
