To be as Lilliputian as the silver mother was both blessing and curse. Sometimes you could almost go anywhere without detection; you were at a level that tended to be usually so plain to those higher-ups, when in fact the undergrowth could be a kaleidoscope only known by fox and littler fauna alike. Aurëwen was sure that her children explored it in their own time, here and now, and whenever she left them to their own devices.

For one, she’d brought them further down the mountain — away from the Falls and their thicket and instead to some in-between glen on the way to the Lake. Here was where they snuck about; with unassuming bluebells and other such flora, wild and benign, with alpines, cottonwood, oak and all else to preside.

As for Aure, the twin peaks of boney shoulders rose and fell above dewy grasses and ferns and flowers — everything personally horrendous put aside, and she didn’t wish to spoil such a lovely, breezy, sun-drenched spring day. Not when she hunted for her babes, and smiled as she often, impishly did.

Dated forward to 5/26th

The rules of the game were simple: hide and be silent. Yet Dragomir was struggling with both of those things. There was an abundance of clever hiding places in the glen, but the problem seemed to be that he just had too many choices. Perhaps there in that old fox den? Or there, where the roots of that oak tree lifted and twisted? Maybe he could just hunker down in the grass, like so, and pray that Aure didn't find him? Or maybe he should dig a hole and cover it in weeds? They all seemed good.

Ah, to be young and indecisive. Not to mention silent. It was all Dragomir could do to keep the giggles down when Aure presumably signaled from afar that the game had begun. Panic fluttered in his breast as he cast about for a suitable hiding place. In the end he decided to hide in plain sight, throwing himself onto his belly in the grass and crawling forward until he was certain he was completely concealed (he wasn't).
