What is it that they say, sometimes when you go looking for something you regret it or curiosity killed the cat? Well, Eti was no cat, but he was a wolf and he was worried for his granme. New births in the seaside homelands. And she hadn't been there. So he went to look and oh he found her, but it wasn't how he wanted. She looked peaceful and beautiful and serene, but she was gone. He saw that as soon as he arrived.

A shriek turned into a wail and then a wail turned into a heartbreaking howl and the boy, the young healer, finally broke beneath the weight of everything all the deaths, the blood and the guts and the gore. He broke beneath the blood slicked paws as he tried to fix Sobo, as he tried to fix Swordfish and Quen. He screamed his grief at the sky for being born a boy in a world full of women. Who loved him surely. And he screamed under constantly looking after everyone and no one ever checking on him. They let him shoulder it all and he had done that, for all of them happily, because it was his duty to be the one to take care of everyone. And it had hurt with each small pained gasp as his manman or his matant had looked at him and those moments when they didn't see him, but Erzulie.

Then suddenly he was a little boy again scared and sad and broken and he ran. Past the cliff tops, past the entrance. He would run and run until his legs gave out or his heart and there he would lay and finally sleep. Far away from home and family.
