Dated for Nov 30th. Party post-feast.

Prompt: "you trip over something jeweled on the floor." @Akhtar

Belly full and body warmed by drink, Seal felt especially social. Somehow, she had managed to strike up a one-way conversation with the mysterious priestess Keiko who only smiled fondly as the buzzed teenager asked her big questions about life.

Suddenly, Seal spotted @Frolic across the floor! But as she was walking, she suddenly stumbled and fell.

A pulse of adrenaline shot through her. Seal had never had alcohol before… and she realized that she didn’t have complete control over herself. Then, she spied what had tripped her (and didn’t feel as bad anymore): a beautiful, bejeweled charm of amber attached, by sap, to a thin strip of tanned hide.

Had somebody dropped it? Quickly, she looked around for an owner.

His face was itchy.

Irritation and drink made him a veritable storm, hunting for the valuable piece he had let slip from his neck. All the while, he cursed himself.

Miserable old fool, look what you’ve done. All because you couldn’t stop yourself from weeping over a damn song.

He couldn’t help it. He’d heard it across the room while chewing morosely on a morsel of meat, on edge enough that his jaw ached from the tightness. It immediately catapulted him back to a time long before. A party, much the same as this one, and a voice in his ear.

A little too dreary for a party, don’t they know? He’d laughed helplessly at the comment, until their mentor whirled on them. They’d been very quiet after that.

Gods, he missed him.

A flash of amber caught his eye. The priest swept through the party with a bannered tail.

Hello. His delicate paw pointed to the neckpiece.

I believe you may have found something of mine.

Seal turned at the sound of a gentleman’s voice. Behind the young woman was a breed of wolf she had never seen before. His downed ears were adorned in silky, curled silver locks the color of winter sky. His body was elegant and lean. Even the bridge of his nose was regal and gently sloped.

“O-oh, hello,” she stammered, both surprised and enchanted.

“This is yours?” she asked. Of course, it made sense for an elegant man to possess fine things. She quickly handed it over. He could have been conning her, for all she knew, and Seal would have given it away without a second thought.

“Tis beautiful,” she admired the jewelry. “Where did you get it from?”
