All Welcome
Druid knew she shouldn’t stray far, since the bypass was so vulnerable to invasion. But if she was meant to feed herself and her few pack mates, then she must go where she stood the greatest chance of capturing prey. For now, that meant she continued visiting the creek to the west, fishing its waters when she wasn’t patrolling the bypass’s borders with @Witch.

A warm front moved through the area, raising the temperatures and stirring winds at the foot of the mountains. Strong gales buffeted against Druid, making it difficult to focus on her task. She was even further distracted when a crosswind carried the strong scents of wolves from the north.

Knowing she wouldn’t be able to catch much in these conditions, Druid turned into the wind, which flattened her gray fur as she plodded toward the source of the smells. She followed the creek’s winding path, crossing at a bend and finding herself at the edge of a forest tucked underneath a solitary peak. Her mismatched eyes blinked at the unmistakable presence of a small pack here.

witch spent most of her days in druid's shadow, but she didn't mind— responsibility wasn't really her thing, and she'd much rather chase tales to tell than tails of other wolves. patrolling with druid was perfect for that; she could take in the sights and experiences, but if she wandered off for a beat or two to chase butterflies, her sister kept purpose.

today, in the blustering wind, witch couldn't help but chase every smell, every leaf from last autumn that waited throughout winter for now to fall. but she was stolen away from her games and daydreams when a gust informed her that druid was no longer the only wolf ahead. with a rare focus, witch followed the scent and then physical trail left by her sister.

she crouched at druid's side after a nudge to her flank— i'm here— and set her chartreuse eyes upon the clearing.

I think there’s a pack living here, Druid murmured, turning her head to regard Witch, wondering what her sister thought about finding a new neighbor.

It wasn’t surprising to note that several of the strong scents here belonged to men. Druid bit back an internal sigh, mulling whether to call for someone. Her mismatched eyes roved upward toward the treetops and the skies beyond them before dropping earthward and seeking her sister’s gaze again.

It wouldn’t hurt to introduce ourselves, Druid posited, though that made her think of Kas. Should we call for someone?
