Joining

[Image: 770-607-robert-harding-picture-library.j...entation=0]

shaking crying at numbers, I'm going to accelerate joining! @Gunnar @Bjarna for your reference. Any + all of the pack welcome

She begins this way, looking down at hardened paws that have carried her so far through nameless places, and a body belabored that has known toil and the unremitting yen of hunger.

All around her winds carrying mist scatters the flush of morning light, and ahead loom the silhouettes of dark giants. Her movement lurches. There is not a thing she can offer this place. She is a hollowed out wraith against their divine lien.

Paws have anchored her here, at the cusp of two worlds.

The one behind is known.
This one ahead is full and difficult to learn.

She stands bereft between them.
I was a rover, an outrider, a silver tongued devil. I was inflicted and I was broken. I've been many things.

Gunnar moved slowly throughout the borders, more gray in hia muzzle than days before. More pain in his joints, but his heart still beat strong, he could still hunt, still fight if he must so he was blessed doing well

A wraith of a woman stood at their borders and with a kind smile he approached. With a voice quiet and gentle as the man himself.

Are you quite alright?

The giants are joined by a veiled shadow who treads forward, and a question rends the cold air that threads between them. They shed their silhouette for tawny wolf-fur, and a face starkly cut but holding so much benevolence. He looms tall before her, but he seemingly does not look down on her.

She bids herself to rise and to look bright-eyed into him, as if she must prove there is more beneath this feeble shell.

“Hello,” She greets in sounds clipped and wavering, “I apologize for not announcing myself sooner. My name is Tauris- is this… Kvarsheim?” She searches the man for recognition, but there is no mistaking this land.

Gunnar has no designs on being above those in their ranks.. He was leader yes but that was all.

It is. Well met Tauris. I'm Gunnar. How can i help you? she looked in need of a meal amd the fatherly figure wanted to feed her immediately but he needed to take care of the pleasantries first.

Kvarsheim. This is Bjarna’s home.

Her face is halved in a glint of luminous light as sunrise is molded by the circle of stones in the horizon.

Could she live here, too? Could she take their name, and wave their banners? Sleep beneath their deities and guard their monoliths? And if she could- would it come to change her view? Would she adapt herself in ways meant to please them?

She knew this was inevitable. A shared intent was what kept the pack alive where lone wolves perished.

She was not ready to perish. She wanted to thrive, and not just to get by on mouldering scraps and an occasional stranger’s goodwill. She was disgraced in this skeletal body and these desperate fixations.

Once she was a winter huntress who drew no pity other than the plight of quarry beneath her teeth. Fight as she did, there would never again be surepath back to that girl. She lived and died in the mountains of Lyotak.

But, maybe there could be a healthy girl who ran with the Kvarsheim wolves. Who gave chase to their herds and cultivated their fields and cared for their kin.

To the older man with the kind eyes called Gunnar she speaks again, and this time with an aim that's true, “I’ve come to offer myself to the pack of Kvarsheim. If they would have me.”

His daughter the sweetest thing to grace the wilds always made friends with the downtrodden and it filled him with immense prode. To help someone get back to their feet and potential leave. That was okay too.

He offered a kindly smile. We are small in numbers so you will need to pull your wieght when you're able, but if you would like a home. I have objection.

He should be more firm a little more questioning, but there was a wild energy to the girl. She was hungry and tired and he wouldn't add more hardship. first lets get you something to eat then find you a place to rest yes.

Gunnar is a calm man. A compassionate one. Whether he sees in her a dormant strength to be tended or otherwise pities her sunken form, he permits her to stay. She realizes there’s no real difference in it either way. She’d been bled of her pride so many months ago.

“Thank you, Gunnar,” her voice wavers. She is indebted.

“I hunt (rats), and I can track (rats again),” she says by way of assurance. Maybe it was not a whole truth, but it would be some day. She would make it so.

“I promise that I will be no burden to your pack, I will contribute where I can. Carry my own weight.”

Gunnar had not meant to upset her if he had. And it wasn't pity that drove him as much as a compassion for his fellow wolves. Especially one young and small who was obviously hungry. This he couldn't allow. She must be fed and healthy. That was the only way the young should be.

You're quite welcome. Come along now. Let's get you something to eat, hmm?

<33 thank you danni!

She smudges away doubt.

It begins, it has an end. Her eyes come back to her hardened paws dark against the grass. She takes a step, it’s towards Gunnar’s side and over the threshold to Kvarsheim.
