As dreadful as it was to have fallen victim to her aphasia once more, if it meant her daughter forgave her- even just a little bit- then it could not be all bad. Suzu served as an interpreter, and for that, Chacal was grateful.
Perhaps she had chosen well when she had sought Arric once; she was not persuaded to forgive him for his fight with Mireille, but at least she could see why Chani and Chiro had not inherited mean spirits. In spite of the news, Arric didn’t lose his temper.
She knew he couldn’t protect Sobeille, should Akavir seek out justice on his own. Sobeille might some day learn that justice collected interest- and that the punishment she might earn after running away was more dire. She accepted that fact, and would relay that information to Mireille.
At least, it seemed that they were not in jeopardy of being flung into a war because their guilty party had run away. She looked to Suzu then, and stroked a paw from her daughter’s brow, trailing down between her shoulders, and sidling closer. She looked to Arric as she held her daughter, a plea in her eyes as she intoned the two-note melody she had used for Suzu’s name.
With regards to Arlette and Etienne, a nod was given. Perhaps the Swiftcurrent botanist and healer might know of something that could be useful.

It can be assumed that if Chacal is speaking, she will be singing. Her speaking patterns will always have a melodic quality to them.
