All Welcome
@Aningan could I perhaps be taken off PPC? <3 Also anyone is welcome.

The deluge had not lifted from their lands in some time. They had been forced to move inland further, away from the scent and touch of the sea. From the edge of their designated den, the young wolf watched with a dismal expression as the rain continued to fall from the heavens and wet the earth. With the stormy weather came the cool touch of autumn and a promise for a cold winter. It would be the young sea wolf's first. Regin knew nothing of the hardships that came with the falling snow.

Rising from her position at the mouth of the den, Gin stepped out into the drizzle and squinted her eyes against the tapping of water. She lowered her muzzle to the earth and sniffed, just as she had seen the others do. It smelled of nothing more than damp ground. When this has bored her well enough, the young wolf began a short journey away from the den and into the heart of their claimed territory.

somewhere, somehow, valravn had found a skunk.

at first he had chased after it in joyful romps, and delighted when it turned around to meet him. he thought the way it wagged its tail was weird, and when the skunk hopped up and down on its front legs he grinned, thinking it was a game --

and then he got blasted in the frickin' face by a stream of hostile, acidic liquid. it burned his eyes and nose, curdled his tongue, and had him screaming wailing running all the way back to the den --

where he didn't even realize regin was standing (or squinting, really - val was squinting too, on account of angry rodent juice in his eyeballs) -- unless she side-stepped nice and pretty, valravn was about to run full bore into her.

Thankfully seeing Valravn was not much of an issue, if only because he could be smelled from a lightyear away. The reek of skunk was unlike anything else. Gin drew her gaze upward and peered into the drizzle to see his dark frame barreling in her direction. She frowned at the image of her brother with smear on his face, charging where he could not see. He had always been something of a wildcard, but this was different. Valravn had fucked with something that fucked right back.

Regin did more than step sweetly aside so that he missed her, she took a few great big hops to place some distance between herself at the rank ass smell that clung to her brother. With a disgusted expression, Gin lowered her head and buried her nose into her paws. "What is that?" she wheezed against the sharp tang that had washed over her senses.

a naturally lazy boy, it was incredible what valravn was capable of under duress. his only instinct was to get away, to run, to go back home -- thinking rather stupidly, this blinding stinging sensation would not follow.

but oh, it did.

he streaked right past his sister, who nimbly ducked out of dodge and followed with a crinkle of her nose. by now, the dark torpedo that was valravn had run aground in the soft sand of their den, rubbing his smarting muzzle into the many-furred pelts that made their bed. when this only served to further irritate his eyes, valravn issued a wild cry and swung back the way he had come -- all the while spilling a rank miasma as he went.

as for his sister's question, he was incapable of answering -- for his throat was as choked up and clouded as his eyes.

The young sea wolf could not help the expression of disgust and disapproval that had crossed her features. Gin cautiously followed after the boy until she realized that he was rubbing the reek all over their bedding. It didn't last long. The boy turned quickly and darted back out of the den and into the open. Regin kept her distance from the wailing moron, scrutinizing his pathetic state with a pointed sidelong glare.

She wasn't too bothered about his lack of an answer. Surely, whatever had caused him to shriek and moan in such a way would never be trifled with again. The wiry young girl was interested in where he'd found it. She imagined that she could get those answers later on, provided her brother hadn't permanently brain damaged himself.

CAMEO >:D

Amongst the furs and bedding in the den was Chacal, who'd been napping and had been completely oblivious to the drama about to unfold. With Regin posted outside, almost as a quiet guardian, Chacal slumbered peacefully, her little toes and whiskers twitching in the sweet reverie of her dreams.

It would be hard for her to say what hit her first- the putrid smell of skunk-stink, or her brother's muzzle as he barreled into the den and tried to rub some of the eye-watering stench from his face into the furs she was sleeping on- and also into the soft spot just behind her ribs. She inhaled- and her breath hitched. Lips trembling, she watched as her brother bolted from the den, but the scent he bore lingered. She gasped, and her stomach churned.

She stumbled from the den's entrance, and as soon as she was clear to go, she took off like a rocket, tail between her legs- to find a place to vomit, and a quiet place to try and rid herself of the clingy stench of skunk spray.
It can be assumed that if Chacal is speaking, she will be singing. Her speaking patterns will always have a melodic quality to them.

into the reeds the boy went, flinging himself to and from with blind desperation. somewhere nearby chacal streaked past, but valravn scarcely noticed her.

of course, the solution might have been water -- but valravn was balefully terrified still of the ocean, and felt his insides wither at the prospect of a bath. "maaaahman!" he cried pitifully as he traipsed past the unflinching regin. a waft of ripe scent rose from his fur, forceful as a fist.

throwing himself into the loamy soil, valravn began to rub his cheeks this way and that, until at last he resembled a bog monster doused in mud rather than boy.

The dark-hooded pup watched her brother wheeze and holler his way around the most immediate area. Chacal was even so bothered by his noise and putrid scent that she was forced to flee from the pup den and vacate somewhere that didn’t reek of Valravn’s mistake. Gin didn’t blame her, of course. If she wasn’t more interested in watching her brother try to find his way out of this mess, she might have followed after Chacal and done away with the stinky young boy.

Instead, she listened as the dark child called for their mother. This sparked the young pup to roll her eyes – an expression he would not see. Cautiously, Regin made her way to where he had started his slow transformation into his true form: wet dirt. She peered at the goopy mess that coated his face and almost sneered. Instead, she turned her nose up to him and looked at Val from the corner of her gaze.

val slung mud to his face in a flurry of movement. a soft squelch sounded as he slapped his cheeks with a loam-covered paw. when that did not yield an abatement from the stinging of his eyes, the boy sank into the mudpit and began to roll like a freshly cleaned grey pony.

he missed his sister’s eye roll, but when he lurched to his feet he was now suitably covered from head to toe. his eyes had stopped stinging at some point; as if forgetting the very incident that had gotten him into this mess, val took a long look at his sister.

a long, considering look —

and then he bolted towards her with mud flying.

Just before the rank boy aimed his smelly, sloppy figure for her... there was a moment between them. Regin could see the shift in Val's features. For only a heartbeat, a fleeting glimpse of sibling mischief seemed to hold them against each other. That moment - electric in the sensation that filled the girl - just seconds before mud was flung upward and Valravn was aimed for Gin's wiry frame.

The reaction that initially met him was instinctual. The dark skull of the girl whipped before her frame. The pup's lip peeled to reveal glistening teeth that were aimed for the boy's snout, or she assumed. It was difficult to determine where she was aiming her warning shot. Valravn appeared to have become something otherworldly.

As mud and grime splattered on Regin's nose, she recoiled with a loud, "no, Val!"

the mudmonster hurled forward, a splatter of slime following. his trajectory was altered by the brunt punch of regin's aimed teeth, which sent him sideways in a streak of mud-splatter.

val whirled around, dirt dripping from his pelt. at regin's exclamation he froze, head lowered -- but his tail menacingly raising inch by sloppy inch.

The dark pup was hard to keep track of when he was drenched from his nose to his tail with mud and slopping it all over the place. Regin was visibly bothered by his lack of respect for her cleanliness and peace of mind.

Val dove toward her, seemingly fired up. Gin took a glob of mud to her chest and throat as she snarled threateningly and aimed three very rapid shots at his muzzle. The glint of her youthful fangs was the only further warning he would receive. They were both still young enough that a fully intentional bite of that caliber would be a painful experience. This was what she hoped, at least.

aw come on, sissy!! can't you have fun??! val's eyes were bright with imploring joy, a grin held to his rugged cheeks as he scampered towards her flinging mud this way and that.

he was met with the rebuke of three well-aimed nips. his nose smarted, and the blow was enough to send the slippery pup scampering backwards in retreat.

despite the rounded egg of pain that brought tears to his eyes, val's interest in play was unassailable -- he rallied with a sniff of his snotty, freely-running nose, and then began to army-crawl towards regin.

Nothing seemed to bring him down, even as she found purchase in the bridge of his nose. It did not seem to matter to the green-eyed boy. He was smitten with the idea of play and it would not be cast from him so easily. Regin could feel the muck on her chest and snout, smeared across her throat and neck. It was already too late to keep herself out of the worst of it.

The young siren scowled before she darted toward him, aiming to knock him back into the mud and tumble in with him. The goal was to smush him as deep in the mud as she could manage and she wouldn’t be satisfied until she had succeeded in that.

well, regin did exactly that.

she pushed into valravn, hard -- enough to knock him on his side. his stupid grin fell away as his cheek slapped the ground and mud squelched into his ears. ew! uncomfy! he squirmed under regin's weight to no avail; she was like a wailmer sitting on a cute little growlithe!

wriggling did nothing but work his body deeper into the muck. valravn, thoroughly pinned, began to wheeze through his nostrils -- and felt a very real, very alarming fear that he might drown in this pit.

Water, it seemed, would not rid her of the stench- not immediately, anyway. But she'd run to the nearest stream and had rolled in it, before she emerged from the waters and then rolled in the nearest patch of fresh, green grass to try and feather the last bits of skunk odour from her pelt. As she meandered back toward the den, she would sniff at herself occasionally, wishing the smell to go away only to realize just how doggedly it could cling to wolf fur.

The scene that greeted her, though, was almost as unexpected as the way she'd been awakened by her brother- and she watched with watery eyes as the two siblings struggled in the mud, snapping and biting at one another until Regin toppled her brother back and into the mud, pinning him down and pushing him further into the rain-softened earth. With a gasp of horror, Chacal first began to trot toward them, and then hurried into a skittering run, slipping and losing her footing not long before she reached them. As quickly as she could, though she'd lost the majority of her speed with her fall, she heaved herself toward Regin aiming with the wet, mud-slicked top of her head and wriggling, thrashing forelimbs to come to her brother's defense, and tried to wrestle her sister off the lad.
It can be assumed that if Chacal is speaking, she will be singing. Her speaking patterns will always have a melodic quality to them.

“He started it!”

The dark-hooded girl snapped as Chacal jumped to save Valravn from being smothered in the mud. Gin wasn’t too happy with the turn of events, and she made this clear by shaking her coat and spattering mud everywhere. Chacal had pushed her off well enough and Val could get his stinky ass out of the muck if he really wanted to, but he was only gonna be smelly and dirty at that point.

“Just giving him what he deserves,” Regin snorted defensively, scrunching her nose up in a pouting expression and curling her lip. Normally the young girl was fine with her brother’s nonsensical nature and tendencies. She didn’t love it all the time, but she wasn’t entirely hateful either. She just wasn’t going to be a bitch and lay down while he rolled his stink all over her.

Could you blame the girl?

the world seemed as if it was closing in -- a wheezing choke sounded through val's windpipe as regin smothered him. tears stung his eyes, as did a sense of infinite mortal terror -- one that was lifted like a heavy cloak as chacal came streaking to the rescue.

he could breathe again. val sat choking and hacking up a lung as chacal stood by him and regin figuratively dusted the culpability from her pelt. it didn't take the boy long to recover with a sunny smile and a rogue lick to chacal's nose, but his eyes narrowed and he squinted at regin as he pulled himself from the mudpit.

he still smelled, and now he'd been choked to death. if it wasnt for chacal, who knows if he would have turned into a bog body?!

all in all, a very shitty day according to val.

Chacal out <3
Chacal hadn't been present to see who had started the fight. But She could see that Regin had won it, but had not simply stopped there- she'd been torturing Valravn, who had clearly been incapable of defending himself from that position, and it had looked to her like a poor show of sportsmanship. So she simply snorted in reply and maintained her stiffened, protective posture even once Valravn had pulled himself out of the mud. He came close to lick her cheek and she was hit with another wave of nausea as the skunk stink wafted back into her nostrils. She tried to give him a little bit of a smile, but the smell stung at her eyes too much.

It'd been such an eventful morning already, and Chacal was ready to be done with it. In having joined in their dispute, she'd made herself both dirty and smelly again, and she wanted nothing more to be rid of the smell. So, she pulled her cool glare from Regin and gave Valravn a very gentle nudge with her nose, before she trotted off, heading back for the nearest stream again, so she could give herself another soak and hopefully get rid of the rest of this bog-skunk-stench Valravn had found.

Something in Gin hated that Chacal had become the hero. She'd fled the scene initially, hadn't she? Where was the courage in that? It was a sour weight that dropped her stomach and left her with a puckered expression. She didn't want to face either one of her siblings. Val looked like a complete mess, coating from head to toe in muck and still reeking of skunk stench. The siren wasn't about to be caught with him in the den.

With a fresh scowl and a snort, Regin turned herself from the scene and stalked away. Her eyes pulled from the image of Chalan and Valravn. She aimed herself for a small area that was a few hundred yards from the family site. It was a secret portion of the pack that she felt she'd discovered. It was also the only place she could think to go at that time, covered in mud and still unable to get the scent of her brother out of her mouth and nose.

It would take a while before she would forgive the humiliation she felt from that encounter.

val's affectionate lick was merely tolerated - for a moment he became concerned for chacal, before he realized that pinched expression was nausea.

oh, right. he stunk. now it was mixed with bog juices and general nastiness. no wonder she nearly upchucked when he got close.

watching regin slink away, val considered following her -- but in the end, it was his sun-caped hero he flounced after. it took no time at all from him to go to sodden and downtrodden, to very cheerful and playful. it may have been an eventful morning for them all, but it took valravn no time at all to forget his embarrassment of nearly being drowned, and before long he was vigorously rolling in the dust and playfully chewing sticks as he followed his sister back home.
