Chacal heard the cry and moved toward it- only to catch the scent of Chani, Mireille, Tousaint and Shadess in the area. Between the four of them, she felt, the situation would be managed. She felt a light pressure in her pelvis, and paused. She pressed a paw to her swollen abdomen, feeling for movement; her children, she decided, would be excellent swimmers. They moved, now and again, but they did not rage and flail within her as others had.

The pressure ceased, and she continued on.
