to hell with hydra's any-side, arcturus found himself thinking through gritted teeth. it was as if every time he made to do something, hydra's image was there to hold him back, or to tell him what he was about to do was wrong. everywhere he went, it was hydra's ruling he must abide by.

not for the first time, did arcturus feel his freedom stifled here on the mountain.

his gaze fell longingly across katya. were things different, she could be his -- had he not had so poor an encounter with towhee, or a sister who kept him (rightfully) close.

he leveled a sigh, yet remained silent as katya rose to leave. he fought the urge to call out to her as she shook snow from her pelt and turned away, but in the end all he could manage was a tight and solemn goodbye in response.

when her form faded into the gently falling veil of snow, arcturus slumped to the ground and rested his head upon his paws in deep, isolated thought.
