The air outside of their den was bright, streaked with glimmering sunlight that spilled warmth through the opening. The sounds of spring could be heard beyond it. Bugs hummed in the new growth. Trees whispered with the gentle touch of wind. Birds chirped noisily from their perches.

Nicodem had braved creating space between himself and his mother. He had found himself in the warm rays of sun at the edge of the den mouth. The light from overhead was enough to keep him satisfied. There was newfound assurance in his steps. He was still young and wobbly, but every day his strength and endurance were exercised.

A yawn escaped from Nico’s mouth.

Arric didn't bother Jakoul much, he'd drop food and move on with his day. She had been sequestered inside aince the babes and even before. He wondered but didn't ask.
