Fox found herself on the outskirts of Redhawk Caldera. She had not spent much time visiting Wildfire, nor had she expected to when she had set out. It was only her intention to check up on her daughter and make sure nothing horrible had happened to her. Despite the fact that Fox had expected her children to go off on their own some day, she was delighted to know that Wifi was only a short jog away. Raven and Nightjar did not seem to have any plans on leaving soon, and she was happy for that, too. In time, they would have younger siblings to look after and care for. She had no doubt that Raven would be interested, though Nightjar might be a harder sell on the finer aspects of raising his younger siblings.
She had seen him earlier this morning, though they hadn't had any in-depth conversations. Nightjar was more like her in that regard, preferring to keep things short and to the point. It was a welcome relief from the likes of Peregrine, who she swore could chit-chat all day long about nonsense and what-if questions. Not that it was terrible, just not always what she needed. Her path took her around the eastern edges of Redhawk's claim, and she paused there, admiring the white snow that covered the majority of what she could see.

I FORGOT \oo/
After her unfortunate (and frankly rather stupid) run-in with the Silvertip male, Roz had licked her wounds and split, but instead of going straight back to "Saltvinter", she veered south. Most of her hanging around had been in the more southern woods, and if she happened to run into a known aquaintance (like Pan) all the better. She wouldn't admit to missing him outright, but she knew she did in some small part.
Instead of running into a wolf, she ended up running smack dab into a scent line - one that smelled strongly of a certain cinnamon tryst of hers. Red's - and Pan's - pack lands. Well shit. She backed off a ways, in no way wanting a repeat of her recent fiasco, and stared at the mountain a moment. She'd been here before, a few times actually, but always with a message to deliver. Never had she paid a social call.
She remained there a moment, debating whether or not to hang around and chance running into 'Red' or 'Kitten' on their home turf. And of course, by waiting around trying to decide, she ended up staying there for a bit regardless, undecided on what exactly she had even thought to achieve by coming to these parts. She probably should have just gone back.

Bumping to present day, as discussed!
Truth be told, Fox had all but forgotten about her twice lover, "Starling." Peregrine had been her focus for the past several months, mostly because Starling just hadn't come around. But the main reason would be the fact that this was Fox's second heat in three or four months. She tended to stick close to Peregrine and the depths of Redhawk Caldera during those times for obvious reasons. Still, she couldn't be by his side every second of the day. There was work to be done, and their numbers had dwindled. Even Raven had been scarce lately, and Fox couldn't seem to find her scent anywhere. She assumed the girl was merely off traveling in one of the nearby territories.
Alas, it was Starling's scent that trickled into her nostrils today, bringing back steamy memories that were only made more steamy by the fact that Fox was in a particularly randy mood this week. The little red wolf had a feeling that Peregrine would be ever-so-pleased to hear another retelling of another encounter with the dark temptress.
"Long time no see," Fox greeted with a pep in her step as she approached her twice lover. "You've caught me on a particularly good day."

Roz could probably count on one paw the number of times she'd run into a lover more than twice, and this among them. Despite her desire to have left without doing so, she was undoubtedly pleased to see Red. Their meetings had a simplistic carnality, and a free quality, that hers and Kitten's had never possessed. Red never expected more than the moment, one that Ros was happy to give (and to take). She wasn't sure why she'd expected it to be different in meeting on Red's own borders.
"And what a lovely day it is, now," Roz responded easily, appreciatively catching the taste on the air. She grinned, a devil waking behind her eyes as she moved closer as well. "Keeping yourself occupied?" There was a suggestive note behind it - likely at least one of her pack's males was driven mad. If it were Roz, she would have skipped the borders by now... but it seemed Red was a different sort of creature than she.

There was a time when Fox would have chased off anybody who came close to their borders, friend or foe. Perhaps she was getting lax in her old (hah!) age, or maybe Peregrine's general friendliness had finally rubbed off (hah! again) on her. Whatever the reason, the Redhawk alpha made no move to escort Starling away from her precious home. In fact, she practically invited her in for tea, despite the fact the thick smell of a pack was all over her. We'll blame it on the hormones.
"Oh, very," Fox replied, picking up on the undertones with surprising ease. To be fair, she was hearing undertones in anything anybody said this week. Fox flicked her tail from side-to-side, then asked the question that had popped into her mind the moment Starling had appeared. "Are you here for business..." she asked, pausing for dramatic effect and lifting her left brow, "or pleasure?"

This might be her last thread ;o;
Oh dear. She wondered if any of their discussions would end any other way, but dismissed the notion. Why the hell should they? "My business is pleasure," she said with a light laugh. If you couldn't have fun doing something, what was the point? Anything less led to a dull life, and that was something Rosalyn just couldn't abide.
She stepped in a tad closer, testing the waters but not daring to come too close. Pack wolves and their borders, no matter how welcoming Red appeared to be. Her own invitation was written all over her face. While Red's scent didn't naturally have the same effect, the confidence it lent her looked good, and Roz wasn't much for self control.

I needed to reply to something a little lighter/happier.
Fox had no reason to suspect that Starling was here for business. The two had never discussed "moving in together," so to speak, and Fox was pretty sure that it would be awkward (at best) if that ever did happen. They were fleeting lovers, meeting up only on rare occasions when coincidence put them in the same place at the same time. Except, of course, for the one time they had actually planned on getting together for another round.
The dark wolf stepped closer, and a low growl purred in the back of Fox's throat. "Not here," she demanded, rolling her shoulder to indicate they should move some distance away from the caldera's borders. She assumed that her lover would follow, and led the way to a quiet, secluded spot beyond the territory she called home. It was there that Fox stopped and turned to the golden-eyed girl.
Never before had their conversations lasted long, and Fox did not intend to break that tradition. She swept in close, gently nibbling on an ear.

im pretty awkward in these threads usually, and writing one from work is a whole mother story lmao! Oh Jeeze Roz tests me so. I love it <3
As she's guessed, if anything was to come, it wasn't going to happen right there. She nodded and followed willingly, relieved honestly to be moving away from Red's turf. The red woman had never pressed as Pan had, for she seemed to understand on a somewhat eerie level the transient nature of their encounters. Roz had rarely met a wolf willing to keep to this sort of dalliance and she had many times tipped her gratitude to whatever fate made them cross paths that first time. Even if this likely wouldn't last in the long run.
As soon as they'd made it to the spot, Red wasted no time in moving in. Roz grinned appreciatively at her brevity and traced a line down her jaw, happy to forget herself in the company and temptation of the other. Her hip slid in, pressing her side up against Red's. It had been a while since this sort of play had been in her sights and she was eager for it.

As usual, Fox wasted no time in getting to business once they were away from Redhawk Caldera. She reveled in Starling's touch, and could only hope that her lover would feel the same. Then again, Fox had never been a particularly selfless lover. She was ever-so-lucky to have Peregrine around, who seemed more intent on her own pleasure, rather than her own. Things with Starling were always so carnal, so carefree and winsome, that Fox rarely had any worry about what was going to happen, or what Starling may think of her afterward. It was the perfect kind of relationship to compliment her dedicated one with Peregrine.
When their desires were satiated, Fox purred happily in her lover's ear, then invited her to lay beside her. Not for emotional support (Fox was not so stupid to think that Starling needed it), but for simply basking in each other's presence.

Red hadn't failed her yet and this was no exception. Saltwinter gave security and survival, but it had starved her of this. So she was perhaps more eager even than usual, though no amount of desire could make her lose the touch she'd cultivated over the years. If anything, it enhanced it.
By the time it was done her eyes were lidded with satisfaction, and she reveled in the nearness of Red as she elected to stay and share company. She smiled as Red's satisfied noise sounded near her ear, and turned to nibble at her neck in response. "It's a damn shame they don't make more like you, Red," she murmured with feeling, a statement that might have caused some offense in traditional relationships but that in their odd situation was an honest thought. One of a kind, this one.

"It's probably better that they don't," Fox replied with a smirk. If "they" did, Fox would probably fight the imposters to the death. She groaned happily, nestling herself closer to Starling. It was a bit more tender (and certainly less rushed) than their previous encounters. For now, Fox intended to rest up before getting back to Peregrine. If he wasn't already, he'd be missing her soon. But she was in no immediate rush to get back to him, surprising even herself.
In a matter of minutes, Fox was snoring softly next to her lover.

closing up :)
Speak for yourself, she thought silently, elated by the very idea of more so eager to please (and of course, be pleased) without the strings that always inevitably attempted to tie her close after. That'd be a mighty fine thing. Red snugged in and presently fell asleep, but Roz remained awake, simply enjoying the company. In a bit she'd likely ghost away, back to her shore and away from whatever awkward farewells may follow, but for now she lay her head down and gazed contentedly at the forest. Blissfully unaware of the encounter she'd meet before she was able to reach the coast and that this would be her last excursion for a long while.
