All Welcome
open to sibs + anyone allowed near the den

When Liezhal’s eyes opened for the first time, it was in the middle of night. No fanfare there.

When they opened the second time, it was much of the same: darkness, stillness, business as usual.

But when they opened a third time, the sun was rising and the den was just beginning to fill with an alien glow that turned the girl’s world from black to smoky. Instead of immediately searching for a teat as she usually did, Liezhal started using her bleary new vision to examine the differences in the shadows before her.

lol i was actually thinking of opening up a thread super soon too! tysm, i was on my last two days

when sunlight kissed racharra on the head, blessing her with morning glow, the pup opened her eyes to meet the world that was slowly becoming familiar to her. she could see those in the den with her, but could barely distinguish them nor understand what she was looking at. she still relied on her nose and whatever she felt beneath her mostly as her watery periwinkle eyes had to adjust.

racharra dragged her body and called for her mother the only way she knew how. her body pushed against the others, using her nose and now, her eyes, to find her. she didn't need warmth; the other bodies of her younger littermates provided just enough of it to one another. but only one wolf could provide milk for them, and that was what she was searching for.
if only my heart were as cold as i pretend it is.
maybe i could get over this

the mother had been outside the den, relieving herself, when the sounds of her children began to chatter from the dark. she wedged herself within the den mouth and then bent to check each of them; some still slept, but others were awake and bright-eyed. she passed her tongue over their heads one by one, and settled to let them eat.

cameo unless he is interacted with

Khaba had not been far, keeping both ears and eyes alert for any disturbances within the den.

A small chirp and his head jerked towards the sound.

Trotting softly near, the male poked his dark head within to be sure all was well. But he did not enter.

And as he hoped, all was well. Zharille had settled with her babes, once noisy and now suckling quietly.

He was satisfied by this, simply watching for a moment in calm awe. Never before had he seen a sight transpire as this, for he was new to the concept of children. But it was an intriguing sight all the same.

sorry, just saw this :)

Miho had grown accustomed to being rolled this way and that, whether it was by her mother or her active siblings. The squirming warmth that surrounded her day in and day out only seemed to grow more restless as the days passed. The strength of what she would soon understand to be her siblings grew quickly, blessed by hearty genes and a supportive environment. Mother was never too far from her brood. The child stretched herself amongst the others, making note of the large visual that leered overhead. Vision was a new phenomena for the girl and so she stared for a long while at her mother, trying to figure out what exactly she was looking at between the blurred greyness.

upon the entrance of the pups mother, racharra initially moved closer. with this fresh new understanding of the world, the pup could see how her mother looked. scent still guided her little body, of course. but it was the faint scent and the sight of a different yet familiar wolf. it was the scent she recognized, not so much the sight.
the pup was far too young to pinpoint as to why exactly this wolf was vaguely familiar, but she gazed at the blurry figure who's head blocked the already little sunlight that was allowed to spill into the den. hunger quickly turned her attention back to her mother though and she nestled back up in search for a teat.

When a sudden blackness re-engulfed her view, Liezhal became still, only moving when that dark, all-encompassing shape gave her a reassuring lick upon her head. Her mother's scent washed over her anew, and the pup reanimated on reflex, eager to get back to the proverbial trough and completely forgetting her newfound sense.

She missed the appearance of another dark shadow and familiar scent at the entrance, but this wouldn't be the last time she would get a chance to first lay eyes on him.
